Plouffe is out of the lineup Wednesday against the White Sox. Plouffe owns a relatively mediocre 2-for-11 career line against opposing starter John Danks, which may have factored into manager Ron Gardenhire's decision to rest him. Eduardo Nunez is set to occupy third base in Plouffe's stead.
