Thayer secured his fourth win of the season Wednesday against the Brewers, striking out one and inducing two groundouts while working the 10th inning. Closer Joaquin Benoit wasn't exactly overworked entering action Wednesday -- he logged two one-inning outings in the preceding three tilts -- but manager Bud Black may keep Benoit's workload in check after he missed nearly two weeks this month due to a sore shoulder. While Kevin Quackenbush handled the ninth, Thayer was afforded a late-game chance after Rene Rivera's solo shot in the bottom of frame resulted in extra baseball. With Quackenbush assuming setup duty, expect most of Thayer's opportunities to occur in the seventh inning for the remainder of the year.
