Hammel threw very well on Tuesday night against the Astros, allowing only three hits and one run over seven innings while striking out six. Hammel got a no decision when Luke Gregerson blew the lead after he replaced him in the eighth inning. Hammel had been skipped last time through the rotation and appeared on the edge of maybe losing his rotation spot due to his struggles since joining the A's. This start will likely earn him a start the next time he comes up in the rotation, Monday at home against the Mariners.
