The Padres have yet to rule out a stay on the DL for Benoit (shoulder), Corey Brock of MLB.com reports. Benoit, who hasn't pitched since Aug. 13, is scheduled for a "couple more" days of treatment, according to manager Bud Black, after which the aforementioned decision will be made. Backdating a DL stint would allow Benoit to return before the end of August, which doubles as the waiver trade deadline. If the Padres opt to move the 37-year-old reliever and his $8 million 2015 price tag, closing duties would likely fall on the shoulders of Kevin Quackenbush, at least for the remainder of this season.
