Shields pitched six innings, allowing two runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out six batters before picking up his 12th win of the year (12-6)in Tuesday's game against the Rockies. Shields has hit a groove at the same time his team is surging, as he has thrown six straight quality outings while having not allowing more than three earned runs in his last nine starts. As a result, Shields has lowered his ERA to 3.28 o the year. His next start is set for Monday at home against the Yankees.
