The Steelers are preparing Isaac Redman as if he's going to start against the Titans Sunday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Although the Steelers are not ruling out Rashard Mendenhall (hamstring) yet, all signs point toward Redman carrying the load. And with Mewelde Moore (ankle) already ruled out, Redman could be looking at 20-25 touches including the goal-line work. Redman has averaged a hefty 4.8 yards per carry on 74 career rushes.
Redman and Starks. Mathews has eclipsed Tolbert in SD. Redman will carry the load for PIT. Starks is a bit of a question mark, but has a better chance of getting opportunities than Tolbert at this point.
Thanks UncleB! I've been debating on Tolbert verses Starks all weekend but think I will go with Starks even though Tolbert will allegedly still have goal line duties. Tough week with the bye week and injuries, don't want to start out 1-3.
Redman if mendenhall is out starks and tobert slpit carrys if Mend Hall plays like frank gore did last week then u have to go tolbert he gives u best Td chance
Well, the danger with both is that they don't finish the game. Ben could get reinjured, and Orton could stink out the place (but probably not). I'd roll the dice with Ben, though it's a gamble. I'd like to know the supporting cast.
RBs - AP and probably Redman. It's a question of Ridley running v. the Jets or Redman v. the Titans. Neither is a particularly good option. But I have to think the Steelers will rely more on their ground game, and the Titans aren't the Jets. Mendenhall doesn't figure because Redman will get more opportunities than he will.
WR - Decker and DJax
Flex - S Smith. Usually I'd go RB with a flex, but your choices aren't great. Plus, Williams hasn't shown anything yet, the Bucs have a reliable running game, and the SF defense isn't bad. (Not that NO is bad, but Smith is a better receiver and CAR has less of a running game.)
i started huter from last week and got screwed because gore tore it up is redman spliting work with mendenhall since he was able to pratice, is it best to advoid him and start ingram or addai who would u star
You better check again my friend, the Titans have one of the best defensive lines overall in the NFL right now, and as battered as the Steelers are on their offensive line, and Roethlisberger playing gimpy, the Titans are gonna bring even more people up to stop the run. My prediction is Redman doesn't even finish the game he'll be getting hit so hard. Bad move to play Redman this week! This game is also always a physical matchup!!!
With SJAX on bye I have to start either Redman or Bradshaw alongside MJD. Bradshaw spits time with Jacobs but I'm a little worried that the Titans D might shut Redman down.
I could have gotten either but snagged Redman because the RB situation with Shanahan in Washington could change without notice. Hightower and Helu had all the carries and then all of the sudden out of nowhere Washington started Torain.
Shanahan starts whichever RB matches up best against the opponent and will even switch in game if the starter falters choosing to go with whichever RB has the hot hand. Mike Shanahan is a fantasy team owner's nightmare. lol
I think Redman is going to do well. They picked Starks back up to help out the O-Line. They are going to HAVE to run the ball to keep Ben from getting killed, especially now that he cant scramble as well with his sprained foot.
Redman's good, but his line sucks. Teams will stack the box to shut him down and keep the pressure on Big Ben so he doesn't have time to go to Mike Wallace.
