The conditional pick in 2013 that the Bengals acquired in Tuesday's Carson Palmer trade will be a first-rounder if the Raiders win one playoff game. If the Raiders don't get a playoff win, the 2013 pick will be a second-rounder. They get the 2012 first-round pick regardless. Either way, it's an exceedingly high pricetag for a quarterback that was a shell of the Pro Bowl player he once was when last seen on the field. In 2010, Palmer threw 26 touchdowns against 20 interceptions and his arm strength was a major liability.

Say this about Da Raida's, they are willing to make the "BIG" move. Good on them. But they also were in a tough situation, with the trade deadline being today, no competent QB on their roster, and Campbell being hurt and his contract runs oput at the end of the season. It's a no brainer. Sure the price was steep, but, if you want a quality QB, then you gotta pay the price. By the way GO PACKERS.........

Ya Packers!!!!

No question Palmer can still play @ a high level and the Raiders feel that they can win now. Any other QB would've been a stop gap for the rest of the year - Palmer gives you a solution for the next 2-4 years and if he round back into form before the ACL and cut down the INTs Oak town may just once again be relevant as an AFC champ! Al Davis would be proud of this move.

History repeats itself, Vick will never change his style of play now matter what or where he plays, Palmer is the same: effective pocket passer who is accurate but not mobile. He is a leader on the field and has always had his receivers respect. Ocho and Houz didn't do crap when Palmer wasn't on the field. It only goes to show you how good this guy can be if you give him time in the pocket and guys who can catch.

Raiders have a good O-line and an already establish running game. Palmer is not required to be a gunslinger but rather a game manager for the Raiders right now. He can do that until he settles in and that might not be until December.

I like Carson Palmer but the Raiders could have saved some high value picks by picking up Garrard or Orton; I think they all would have about the same production. But then again, maybe the change of scenery will breathe new life into him. It also helps that he will have McFadden and Bush backing him up in the backfield and that he wont have to play the steelers and ravens twice a year.

didnt you hear garrard is having surgery on his back so he wasnt an option and at this point i think broncos still dont trust tebow and kept orton in case hahaha idk why they didnt trade him

Your comments are not without merit, but I doubt that Garrard would have helped more than Boller. I also doubt that the Broncos would have traded Orton to a team in their own division.

If Palmer has anything left, he'll be the answer to what the Raiders desperatly need; leadership, experience and a QB who can get the ball to the receivers.

yeah if he does what he did in cin last year they would be happy, minus a couple ints cause damn hahaha
