Former Patriots and Saints CB Randall Gay says concussions ended his career.
"I can't play anymore. I wish I could, but I'm still having symptoms from concussions," Gay said. "I wanted to try again, but I can't really do anything." Only 30, Gay's 2010 was cut short by recurring concussion symptoms. The Saints released him following the lockout, and he decided to retire. It's unknown if Gay is a part of one of the myriad concussion-related lawsuits against the NFL, but it's a good bet.

Saints released CB Randall Gay.
Gay knew this was coming as he was set to earn $3.5 million in base salary this year to be a backup. He'll see if there's any interest on the open market before considering a return to New Orleans at a reduced salary.

Saints CB Randall Gay said he is willing to take a pay cut to return to the Saints.
Gay, a sub-package corner, is owed $3.5 million in base salary plus a $500,000 roster bonus. "I'm not foolish enough to not know that something needs to be done with the contract," Gay said. The Saints have plenty of depth at corner, making Gay a prime candidate for release.

Saints CB Randall Gay says he is over the concussion problems that plagued his 2010 season.
"I'm ready to go," said the nickel back. "This is the last year of my contract. ... I'm healthy and I plan on being a big part of the Saints' success this year." Unfortunately for Gay, he may not get the opportunity. The 29-year-old is due a $3.5 million salary and will have 2010 first-round pick Patrick Robinson nipping at his heels a role in sub-packages.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune's Jeff Duncan believes CB Randall Gay could be a candidate for release even if he takes a pay cut.
It's widely assumed that Gay won't be back with the Saints this season unless he agrees to slash his $3.5 million salary, but Duncan thinks he could still be a victim of the "numbers game" even if he reduces his salary. Patrick Robinson is expected to be New Orleans' nickel back, while rookie Johnny Patrick could push for snaps.
