The NFL owners and players released a joint statement saying no Collective Bargaining Agreement would be finalized today, but the statement confirmed that talks are progressing quickly. "The discussions this week have been constructive and progress has been made on a wide range of issues," the statement says. "Our legal and financial teams will continue to work throughout the weekend." According to NFL Network's Albert Breer, only two problem areas remain: the litigation settlement and offseason player safety. Players boss DeMaurice Smith and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will stay in touch during the weekend.
