Browns coach Pat Shurmur insisted Monday that Peyton Hillis is not on the trade block.
Hillis is in the final year of his contract, and the Browns have never gotten serious about doing an extension. While there have been only quiet rumblings that he might be traded, Hillis almost certainly isn't going anywhere before Tuesday's deadline. The fact that Shurmur was asked whether the Browns would shop Hillis in a press conference speaks to his odd situation in Cleveland, though. He may not be a part of the team's future plans. Asked about Hillis' (hamstring) status for Week 7, Shurmur was noncommittal Monday: "It's hard to say right now. Sometimes hamstrings take a couple days, sometimes longer."

He's done. I'm dropping him this week if I get a chance at DeMarco Murray or Jackie Battle.

I was at that game--there was no hamstring problem--he was running fine in warmups and on his 6 carries. He's just totally at odds with the team.

Uhm, is it possible he had the hamstring pull after warmups and after his 6 carries?
