ESPN's Adam Schefter reports NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and NFLPA chief De Smith are trying to complete an 11th hour deal to lift the lockout if both sides approve of the global settlement Thursday night. NFL Network reported Thursday afternoon that the owners had enough votes to approve the deal even if the official process was not completed. Schefter's report explains the delay in the owners' room, as a 10-minute break has extended to over an hour with Goodell and Smith working the phones. Per Schefter, NFL teams could open their facilities as early as Friday to players can discuss the outstanding issues and sign the union cards needed to complete the recertification process.
