Simmonds collected a goal and an assist on the power play during Thursday's 4-3 loss to New Jersey.

EDGE Analysis

Simmonds' cross-category profile makes him a solid fantasy asset in the majority of settings, as he's now up to 17 goals, 32 points, 118 shots, 42 PIM and 86 hits through 51 games. It's been suggested that he sustained a lower-body injury in late October and played through it for all of November -- an 18-game stretch where he recorded just five points. With that in mind, Simmonds' numbers are all the more impressive, and he stands to have a solid second half with a clean bill of health.

Simmonds scored a shorthanded goal and logged 18:11 of ice time (2:45 on the power play) during Thursday's 3-2 overtime win against Toronto.

EDGE Analysis

The veteran winger extended his point streak to six games with the tally, and he has now collected eight goals, three assists and 17 shots through his past eight outings. Simmonds is beginning to turn his season around offensively, and he continues to provide nice cross-category coverage with 104 shots, 42 PIM and 74 hits. It's appears he's in the beginning stages of a strong second half.

Simmonds closed the calendar out with a goal and assist in a 5-3 win over Tampa Bay on Friday.

EDGE Analysis

2017 is a year Simmonds will want to put behind him. He posted his worst plus-minus rating last season (minus-18) and hasn't been much better this season. His 23 points is well below his past four seasons of 50-plus points, and he'll be hoping that a new year means a new direction for his contributions.

Simmonds had a goal and an assist in a 4-3 win over the Red Wings on Wednesday.

EDGE Analysis

This five-game homestand has not been kind to Simmonds, as he followed up three goals in western Canada with a stretch of just one point in four games prior to Wednesday. This was a step in the right direction for Simmonds, but he's still on pace for his worst season since 2011-12 with just 21 points in 34 games.

Simmonds scored a goal and added an assist in a 4-2 win versus the Oilers on Wednesday. He also put eight shots on net.

EDGE Analysis

The goal went into an empty net, but they all count for fantasy purposes. This was also probably reassuring for Simmonds, who is off to something of a slow start by his standards. Even with this game, the veteran winger only has nine goals on 65 shots through 28 tilts.

Simmonds recorded three shots and five penalty minutes in a 3-0 loss against the Bruins on Saturday.

EDGE Analysis

Even on the power play, Simmonds hasn't been able to get going this season. It's been particularly bad lately, as he only has one goal since Oct. 22. That's a big reason why the Flyers have lost 10 straight, but at least he's been a little more fantasy relevant as of late. Simmonds is almost three shots per game in the last four contests, and he's served nine penalty minutes in the last two games. He is still a worthwhile fantasy starter with those kinds of numbers, but it appears Simmonds will fail to reach the 30-goal club this season.

Simmonds has just three goals and four assists at even strength through 18 games this season.

EDGE Analysis

Power-play production has always been critical to Simmonds' fantasy success, as he's recorded double-digit goals and over 20 points with the man advantage in each of the past four seasons. However, his even-strength numbers have plummeted this year. Simmonds' 1.09 points per 60 minutes rank 15th lowest among the 164 forwards with at least 200 minutes at five-on-five this season. There is likely statistical correction ahead, and his power-play role buoys his value to a degree. But without a marked improvement at even strength, it will be difficult for Simmonds to repeat his past offensive numbers.

Simmonds (lower body) is in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Senators.

EDGE Analysis

Simmonds will occupy his usual role Thursday, skating on the Flyers' second line and first power-play unit against Ottawa. The 6-foot-2 power forward has already racked up six goals and three assists in nine games this season.

Simmonds (lower body) was on the ice for morning skate Thursday, Dave Isaac of the Courier Post reports.

EDGE Analysis

The Flyers take to the ice for an evening showdown against the Senators in Ottawa, and his participation in the a.m. skate suggests he should be ready for that game. However, fantasy owners will want to check back closer to pregame warmups to learn of Simmonds' official status for the next contest. He's been his typical productive self with six goals and three assists through nine games this season.

Simmonds was in the process of being evaluated for a lower-body injury Wednesday, John Boruk of NBCSPhilly reports.

EDGE Analysis

A proven playmaker in the top six, Simmonds was on the ice for 18:14 of ice time in Tuesday's 6-2 home loss to the Ducks, which was actually slightly above his average amount of playing time on the young season. The Flyers next play Thursday in Ottawa, so expect the team to make a priority of reevaluating one of its top producers.
