Galiardi was released from Blues' training camp Saturday, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
Galiardi had joined St. Louis on a professional tryout agreement (PTO) but apparently did not impress enough to warrant an Opening Night roster spot. The 28-year-old left winger is coming off a season with the Malmo Redhawks in the Swedish Professional League in which he totaled three goals and 12 assists in 29 games.

Galiardi will attend the Blues' training camp on a professional tryout agreement, James Mirtle of The Globe and Mail reports.
EDGE Analysis
Galiardi appeared in 29 games with the Malmo Redhawks of the Swedish Hockey League last season, notching 15 points (three goals, 12 assists) over that span. The 2007 second-round pick will hope to lock down a bottom-six role with St. Louis in September's training camp. If the 28-year-old winger is unable to secure a contract offer from the Blues, he'll likely head back overseas to continue his career.

Galiardi signed a contract with Malmo of the Swedish Hockey League earlier this week, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports. The 27-year-old only appeared in 38 games with the Jets last season, accruing just one point and regularly serving as a healthy scratch. The move to Sweden will give him an opportunity to play on a consistent basis and perhaps restore some market value if he should choose to return to North America next summer.

Galiardi was recalled from AHL St. John's on Friday. Galiardi was assigned to St. John's for only a matter of hours. Fourth-liner Matt Halischuk evidently acquired some sort of injury during Thursday's game against the Flyers and was placed on IR, opening up a roster spot. Look for Galiardi to play at least the next three games, as Halischuk won't be eligible to return until the following Friday.

Galiardi cleared waivers and was assigned to AHL St. John's on Friday, Sportsnet's Mark Spector reports. As anticipated, no team was willing to put a claim in for a player who put up just one point in 26 games. Galiardi will head to the minors and remain on hand as organizational depth for the Jets.

Galiardi was placed on waivers Thursday. Galiardi had previously been placed on waivers in November, but he ended up sticking with the Jets rather than reporting to AHL St. John's. Injuries had necessitated his placement in the lineup, but the subsequent returns of Evander Kane and Mathieu Perreault have since relegated him back to healthy scratch duty. With just one point in 26 games this season, Galiardi should clear waivers Friday without too much fanfare.

Galiardi scored his first NHL goal in nearly nine full months on Saturday in a 5-1 win over Toronto. Earlier in the week, head coach Paul Maurice mentioned he hoped plugging Galiardi into the lineup may lead to some much needed increased scoring production from his bottom two lines. After Saturday's win, it looks like he may have been right. Galiardi was a healthy scratch in 17 of Winnipeg's last 21 games. With Evander Kane (lower body) out until at least February, Galiardi will likely be suiting up on a much more consistent basis for the foreseeable future.

Galiardi will likely play Saturday against Toronto, Paul Wiecek of the Winnipeg Free Press reports. Galiardi has struggled to get into Winnipeg's lineup this season, but skated with Adam Lowry and Matt Halischuk on the Jets' third line in Friday's practice. The team has gotten very little in terms of production from its bottom two lines, and head coach Paul Maurice hopes that shaking things up by plugging Galiardi into the lineup may light a fire under Winnipeg's third and fourth lines.

Galiardi will rejoin the Winnipeg lineup Tuesday versus the Stars, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports. Galiardi had been a healthy scratch over the team's last 11 games, while also clearing waivers during that span. He chose to stick around with the Jets rather than accept an assignment to the minors, and his patience will at least be rewarded for a game. He steps into the lineup for Evander Kane, who was given a two-game suspension on Monday.

Galiardi cleared waivers Wednesday, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports. Now that he's cleared waivers, Galiardi will have the option of whether or not to accept his assignment to AHL St. John's. Given that he didn't warrant a claim from the other NHL clubs after producing no points in 17 games, it seems likely that he'll swallow his pride and return to the minors.
