Tim Connolly will play for the AHL Toronto Marlies. Connolly successfully cleared waivers. In the new CBA, teams can't dodge a players full cap hit by sending them to the minors, so it's safe to say that the Leafs simply didn't feel there was a spot for him on their 23-player roster. The Maple Leafs haven't ruled out the possibility of calling him up at a later date.

Tim Connolly has successfully cleared waivers. The question now is if the Leafs will attempt to trade him with the knowledge that they'd almost certainly need to retain part of his cap hit in the process. The Leafs might also simply buyout the remainder of his contract.

Tim Connolly might have been picked up by the New York Islanders. We'll know for certain at 12:00 pm ET, but for now, it seems probable that he'll be part of the Islanders' in the near future. Connolly might have some fantasy value if they give him a shot on one of their top two lines, but we can't recommend picking him up at this time.

As expected, Tim Connolly has been placed on waivers by the Toronto Maple Leafs. This move was anticipated when Connolly didn't participate in Thursday's practice. Toronto might attend to trade him if he clears and retain part of his salary in the process. However, they also have the option of using one of their compliance buyouts on him.

Tim Connolly did not practice on Thursday and it is being reported that Toronto will place him on waivers. If he clears then the Leafs will probably buy out the final year of his contract to open up another roster spot. Connolly registered 13 goals and 36 points in 70 games with Toronto during his first year with the club in 2011-12.

Tim Connolly registered his 20th assist of the 2011-12 campaign Thursday night. Connolly's first season with Toronto has to be seen as something of a disappointment. He missed a significant chunk of the campaign and he didn't exactly dazzle us even when he was healthy. He has 30 points in 59 games, which isn't a lot of production out of a forward that comes with a $4.75 million cap hit.

Tim Connolly had arguably the worst statistical afternoon of a rough one for the Toronto Maple Leafs offense in a 2-0 loss to the Washington Capitals. Connolly was the only skater to be on the ice for both goals against. If he hasn't been injured this season, he's been a big letdown with just one point in his last seven contests and five in 23 contests since Jan. 21. The Buds knew they were making a risk by signing him but he hasn't even been the "quality over quantity" guy they were hoping for.

The Toronto Maple Leafs will have some new-look lines with Tim Connolly promoted to the top unit - on left wing with center Tyler Bozak and right winger Phil Kessel -- when they entertain the Philadelphia Flyers tonight. Connolly replaces Joffrey Lupul, who could be gone for the rest of the regular season with a separated shoulder. "I thought Connolly has been a real strong player for us in the past three games," Carlyle said. "He has earned the opportunity. He's been strong down low on the power play. He's made a contribution." Connolly replaces Joffrey Lupul, who could be gone for the rest of the regular season with a separated shoulder. Tim Connolly went from possible goat to hero in Wednesday's overtime win over Edmonton. He committed a turnover just inside the Oilers' zone, which became a three-on-one break. However, Toronto captain Dion Phaneuf broke up the play with a great backcheck and sent the Leafs on their own three-on-one. Connolly converted a great pass from Joffrey Lupul to score his first goal in 18 games. The Toronto forward had been battling flu-like symptoms earlier in the day and required intravenous fluids, but he finished the contest with 16:21 of ice time. Connolly now has 26 points in 46 games.

Tim Connolly was moved to the wing alongside Mikhail Grabovski and Clarke MacArthur at practice on Monday. Connolly has struggled mightily offensively of late with one assist in his last 10 games and no goals in his past 16. "Let's just see what happens," he said regarding the move. "They (Grabovski and Clarke MacArthur) are both really skilled and can make plays offensively. I've played wing in the past. Hopefully we can get something going."
