Varlamov will be the starting goalie for Tuesday night's road showdown against the Predators, Mike Chambers of the Denver Post reports.

EDGE Analysis

After a poor 2016-17 season that saw him post a .898 save percentage and saw him miss much of the year to a groin injury, Varlamov has experienced a renaissance to start the current campaign, posting a .944 save percentage and 1.76 GAA to go with his three victories. That said, the Predators are always a tough team to play in their home arena and they have already potted 10 goals in two games there so farm, making Tuesday's matchup a potentially difficult one for the Russian netminder.

Varlamov made 33 saves in a 3-1 loss to Dallas. He allowed two goals.

EDGE Analysis

Varlamov has had a fabulous start to the season and his allowed just seven goals in four games. He has a 3-1 record and strong ratios, although it's really only a matter of time before Colorado comes back to earth. Take advantage of his heat now before it's too late.

Varlamov is expected to get the starting nod against Dallas on Saturday, Mike Chambers of The Denver Post reports.

EDGE Analysis

The decision to use Varlamov in the second half of the Avalanche's back-to-back probably boils down to allowing backup Jonathan Bernier to play against his former club. The 29-year-old Varlamov is undefeated to begin the 2017-18 campaign -- including a shutout performance versus Boston -- and could push for 60 games if he continues to excel between the pipes.

Varlamov made 20 saves on 23 shots in a 6-3 win over the Bruins on Wednesday.

EDGE Analysis

This wasn't as good of a start as Varlamov's shutout victory over the Bruins in Colorado's last outing, but he remains undefeated this year. However, after he posted a 3.38 GAA and a .898 save percentage last season, Varlamov's start is still encouraging.

Varlamov will start the second leg of a home-and-home set against Boston on Wednesday, J.J. Jerez of Mile High Sports reports.

EDGE Analysis

In the first game of the series, Varlamov pitched a 29-save shutout en route to a 4-0 win in Boston and will be looking for a repeat performance Wednesday. Though it's still very early in the season, the Avs have picked up two wins from their first three games, while allowing just two goals per contest. Additionally, Boston will be without No. 1 center Patrice Bergeron on Wednesday, whose absence in Monday's contest caused the Bruins' offense to sputter.

Varlamov stopped everything Monday against Boston, making 29 saves for his 22nd career shutout and first of the year.

EDGE Analysis

Varlamov has shown no ill effects from the surgery that ended his year last season and has now stopped 66 of 68 shots this year. If he's going to keep performing at this level, he'll prove very valuable for fantasy owners.

Varlamov will get the starting nod against the Bruins on Monday, Mike Chambers of The Denver Post reports.

EDGE Analysis

Varlamov made 37 of a possible 39 saves in his first outing of the season against the Rangers. The netminder watched from the bench on Saturday and should be rested for Monday's outing. The 29-year-old struggled on the road last year, as he posted a 3-7-0 with a 3.44 GAA as the visitor.

Varlamov shut down the Rangers on Thursday, stopping 37 of 39 shots in the season opener.

EDGE Analysis

Varlamov outdueled opposing netminder Henrik Lundvist, turning in an insane performance to kickstart the season. After posting a career-low .898 save percentage and losing the net to Calvin Pickard last season, Varlamov is looking to get back on track as the go-to-guy in Colorado this year. We know what he's capable of, so this all-world performance on the second night of the NHL season could be a sign of the bounce-back campaign that's in store.

Varlamov will tend the twine versus the Rangers on Thursday, Adrian Dater of BSN Denver reports.

EDGE Analysis

Varlamov will be hoping for a faster start to the 2017-18 campaign than the 6-17-0 record he put up last season before a knee injury sidelined him for the rest of the year. While the blame doesn't solely land on the shoulders of the 29-year-old, if Colorado is going to get out of the bottom of the standings, he will need to perform significantly better this year.

Varlamov quieted Minnesota's offense Sunday, stopping 28 of 29 shots in the 5-1 preseason win.

EDGE Analysis

Only a power-play goal by Marcus Foligno solved Varlamov, as he looked sharp in his second game of the preseason. However, Colorado signed Jonathan Bernier in the offseason, and Varlamov could very well start less than the 55 to 60 game workload he's been given in previous seasons.
