Wilson was released from his professional tryout with the Flames on Sunday, James Mirtle of The Globe and Mail reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wilson seemed a long shot to earn a spot on the Flames' roster to begin with, so it's not a huge surprise that he's been released. He's now a free agent again, and will look for work elsewhere.

Wilson signed a professional tryout offer with the Flames on Thursday, Randy Sportak of the Calgary Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wilson was limited to just three games as a member of the Avalanche last season, as he suffered a shoulder injury in late October that would ultimately require surgery. Prior to the injury, the 28-year-old wasn't expected to be a major part of the Avs' plans on the blue line, and he'll have an even more difficult time trying to carve out a role in Calgary's defensive corps, which may be the deepest in the NHL.

Wilson is not expected to re-sign with Denver, the Denver Post reports. After playing in just 3 games this past season due to a shoulder injury, Wilson will be facing an uphill battle as he attempts to earn a significant role on another NHL team as a depth defender.

Wilson will undergo surgery on his ailing shoulder and miss the remainder of the season. With Wilson set to become a free agent after the season, it looks like he might have played his last game with the Avalanche. Injuries have been tough to avoid for the blueliner the past three seasons, as he's suited up in only 43 contests during that time.

Wilson (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve Monday. Since Wilson was deemed unfit to play for the Avs during their four-game road trip that began Saturday, the team decided to move him to IR to free up a roster spot for a potential call-up if needed. Wilson will continue to skate on his own back in Colorado, with the hope that he'll be ready to go when the team returns to their home ice Nov. 20 against the Capitals.

Wilson (shoulder) will not travel with the Avalanche for their four-game road trip beginning Saturday in Philadelphia, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports. Wilson is nearing the end of the two-to-three week timetable he was given for his shoulder injury and appears to be progressing well, but not significantly enough to be an option for the Avs. The team has resisted placing him on injured reserve throughout the duration of his absence, instead getting by with seven defensemen during that time.

Wilson (shoulder) has been ruled out for two-to-three weeks, Adrian Dater of the Denver Post reports. Wilson sustained the shoulder injury Tuesday night against the Panthers, after he collided with an opponent. After opening the season as a healthy scratch for the Avs, Wilson had started to settle back into regular duty on the third pairing, but it now looks like he'll be forced to injured reserve. Nate Guenin and Zach Redmond will now be tasked with replacing him.

Wilson will be a healthy scratch Tuesday against the Maple Leafs, Mike Chambers of the Denver Post reports. Wilson was thought to have suffered an injury after taking a puck off his helmet Monday afternoon, but he's apparently feeling fine. Instead, it appears coach Patrick Roy has simply chosen to swap Nate Guenin in for Wilson, who has posted no points and a minus-2 rating over two games.

Avalanche coach Patrick Roy has confirmed that Ryan Wilson will play in Game 4 of their first round series against Minnesota. Wilson had six assists in 28 games in 2013-14. He is replacing Tyson Barrie, who is out four-to-six weeks with an MCL injury.
