Hainsey had two assists and a plus-3 rating in a 3-1 win over the Ducks on Wednesday.

EDGE Analysis

Hainsey is off to a hot start for Toronto, as he already has nine points, all assists, through 13 games. While the Leafs have a potent offense, Hainsey hasn't had more than 19 points since the 2009-10 season, so this start is not likely to be sustained.

Hainsey picked up two assists in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Senators.

EDGE Analysis

Hainsey has six helpers in eight games so far; Saturday was his first multi-point game as a Leaf. Way back when, Hainsey had a 39-point season. It's hard to think it might happen again, but Hainsey will benefit from that high-powered young offense. He may be worth plucking off the wire.

Hainsey went plus-2 with 24:43 of ice time in Tuesday's 2-0 road win over the Capitals.

EDGE Analysis

After winning the 2017 Stanley Cup with Pittsburg, Hainsey signed with the Buds in the offseason, and so far he's proven to be a solid pickup. With three assists and a plus-3 rating, the 36-year-old is gelling on Toronto's top defensive pair with Morgan Rielly. Don't expect miracles from the former, but he'll add stability to your fantasy team much like he does for Toronto from the back end.

Hainsey has been paired with Morgan Rielly early in the preseason, reports the Toronto Sun.

EDGE Analysis

"This is his (Rielly's) fifth year. He's a great skater, has great smarts," said Hainsey. "You're probably just scratching the surface of his offensive ability. It's so early in his career, you hope he'll be here for 15 years." Both men shoot right, but coach Mike Babcock intends to move Rielly to the right side and that will put him on his forehand side in the offensive role. The result -- or the hope -- is that will translate into more offense with Hainsey setting him up.

Hainsey signed a two-year, $6 million contract with the Maple Leafs on Saturday.

EDGE Analysis

Coming off a campaign in which he was dealt to the eventual champion Pittsburgh Penguins, the 36-year-old blueliner has secured another two-yar deal with a playoff contender in the Maple Leafs. Although he struggled to find his footing initially in Pittsburgh -- totaling just three assists in 16 regular-season game -- Hainsey turned in eight points (two goals, six assists) during Pittsburgh's 25 games en route to the championship. He should contrbute on both ends of the ice for his new club and joins an offensively-talented defensive unit in Toronto.

Hainsey scored his second goal of the postseason and added an assist in Thursday's Game 5 win over the Predators.

EDGE Analysis

Hainsey isn't a big-time offensive contributor, but he showed Thursday he's very capable of stepping up into the rush and creating offense. The veteran logs steady minutes on the top defensive pairing and has notched eight points through 24 games. While his best days are behind him, Hainsey is finally getting a crack at the Stanley Cup, and if his team can pull it off, he'll certainly have played a key role.

Hainsey was scoreless with two blocked shots in 19:25 of ice time in Game 1 against the Blue Jackets.

EDGE Analysis

It wasn't a great stat line, but it probably felt great for the veteran rearguard. It was his playoff debut after appearing in a record 907 regular season games without making a postseason appearance.

Hainsey (upper body) is "highly probable" to suit up for Friday's contest against the Rangers.

EDGE Analysis

The same applies to forward teammate Jake Guentzel. Hainsey's status for this next game was described by coach Mike Sullivan as "very promising," and the team assigning David Warsofsky to the minors is more than just a subtle hint that Hainsey -- a stay-at-home blueliner -- will be ready to roll in the next contest.

Hainsey (upper body) will be a game-time decision against the Rangers on Friday.

EDGE Analysis

Coach Mike Sullivan seemed to take an optimistic approach regarding Hainsey's potential return, calling it "very promising". The Pens went so far as to reassign David Warsofsky to the minors which would leave them without any added depth if Hainsey in unable to suit up. Assuming the veteran is given the all clear, Cameron Gaunce would be the most likely candidate to get bounced from the game-day lineup.

Hainsey (upper body) will miss Wednesday's meeting with the Blackhawks.

EDGE Analysis

Hainsey has been making strides toward getting back on the ice, but will have to wait a little longer to lace up his skates. The blueliner's eventual return is unlikely to make significant ripples for fantasy owners considering he has just 15 points this season, but would be a major boost for the Penguins' defense that has been decimated by injuries.
