Emery was found dead Sunday at 35 years old, Hamilton Police confirmed.
EDGE Analysis
It appears that Emery passed in a swimming accident but the exact cause has not been determined. The Ontario native spent 11 years in the NHL with Ottawa, Philadelphia, Chicago and Anaheim, including a Stanley Cup Final appearance with the Senators in 2007. Our thoughts are with Emery's family and friends.

Emery has cleared waivers, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Emery was on return waivers since he had been with foreign club Deutsche Eishockey Liga prior to signing a tryout contract with the Flyers and subsequently signing with the club Friday to play out the remainder of the regular season. Barring an injury to Steve Mason, it's not likely that Emery will see any game action with the Flyers barely hanging onto the second wild-card playoff spot out of the Eastern Conference.

Emery signed with Philadelphia on Friday for the remainder of the season.
EDGE Analysis
If the Flyers hold on to the wildcard spot, Emery will not be eligible to suit up in the postseason because he was not with the team at the trade deadline. The netminder has bounced around for the 2015-16 campaign, as he spent time with two separate clubs in the AHL as well as a stint with the Mannheim Eagles of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga where he saw the most game action. Look for the 33-year-old to give starter Steve Mason some time off heading into the playoffs.

Emery is on a tryout contract with the the AHL Toronto Marlies. He currently sits third on the depth chart with the team.
EDGE Analysis
The situation might not last long -- injured goalie Garret Sparks is due back soon and Antoine Bibeau will likely be back from the big club soon as James Reimer gets closer to full health. Emery is fully recovered from experimental surgery to halt avascular necrosis, which causes the deterioration of the ball in the hip. But Emery is unlikely to ever see NHL ice again -- the odds are long for him to return to the bright lights in an NHL city and he might end up in the ECHL sooner rather than later.

Emery has signed a tryout offer with the AHL affiliate of the Kings, reports NHL.com.
EDGE Analysis
He was released from a professional tryout with the Bolts on Sept. 28. He's coming off a 10-11-7 season with the Flyers last year, but his 3.06 GAA and .894 save percentage didn't inspire confidence.

Emery has been released from his PTO, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the Lighting claiming Kevin Poulin off of waivers, Emery became expendable and has now been released after being on a professional tryout. He'll likely look to find his way on to an AHL roster until another NHL team wants to give him a look.

Emery, who is in Tampa's camp on a tryout, had a strong start to his audition with the team. He stopped all 10 shots he faced in 30 minutes of play.
EDGE Analysis
He still has a long haul to make the team now that Kristers Gudlevskis is back to form. Gudlevskis is under contract with the team and Emery would need to continue to really impress. However, Gudlevskis could benefit with more seasoning in the minors and Emery is out to prove he still belongs in the NHL. Watch this battle carefully as camp progresses.

Emery signed a professional tryout offer with the Lightning on Tuesday, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the news surfacing last week that Andrei Vasilevskiy would be sidelined for the next two-to-three months with a blood clot in his collarbone, the Lightning elected to bring in a veteran option in Emery to compete with youngster Kristers Gudlevskis for backup duties behind No. 1 goalie Ben Bishop. Since coming out of nowhere to go 17-1-0 with a 1.94 GAA for the Blackhawks during their run to the Stanley Cup in the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season, Emery has floundered the last two seasons in Philadelphia, posting a GAA above 3.00 and a sub-.900 save mark. Even if he's able to hold off Gudlevskis for the backup gig in training camp, Emery will likely be let go by the Bolts once Vasilevskiy demonstrates he's healthy again.

Emery gave up two goals on 26 shots Thursday in a 3-1 loss to Carolina. Not a bad outing for Emery, but the Flyers don't do a lot of winning these days. He's now got a six-game losing streak going, though it's some solace perhaps that four of those came in overtime.

Emery is slated to start Thursday's game against the Hurricanes, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. With Emery on track to become a free agent this offseason, this could be his final start for the Flyers, with Steve Mason presumably on track to start Saturday's season finale against the Senators. Emery will look to help the Flyers win their third straight game Thursday, while the Hurricanes have dropped their last two contests.
