Matheson registered two assist during Monday's 7-5 win over Edmonton.
EDGE Analysis
The young defenseman has now collected two goals, three assists and 16 shots while averaging a hefty 23:43 of ice time through his past six contests. Matheson has proven to be more valuable to the Panthers than fantasy owners, but in deep settings, he's definitely heading in the right direction. Additionally, he owns a cross-category profile.

Matheson scored his fourth goal of the season and logged 23:48 of ice time during Friday's 4-2 loss to Detroit.
EDGE Analysis
With Friday's goal, Matheson is up to four tallies and 10 points through his past 18 games, and he also logged the most minutes of any Florida defenseman in this contest. Matheson won't receive a lot of hype, but there's a reason the Panthers locked him up until the 2025-26 campaign, so don't overlook him in deep settings. The 23-year-old defenseman is a solid player.

Matheson provided the game-winning goal in overtime for a 2-1 triumph over the Red Wings on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
The goal -- which was a simple tap-in after Jimmy Howard was caught out of position on a sweeping save seconds beforehand -- was Matheson's first of the season and the eighth in the defenseman's young career. He's logging close to 20 minutes per contest, albeit with scarce playing time on the man advantage.

Matheson had a pair of assists in Monday's 3-2 win over New Jersey.
EDGE Analysis
Maybe it's something about seeing the Devils, but Matheson now has five assists on the year and three of them have come against New Jersey. He might be worth starting in your daily lineup on March 1 when the Panthers face the Devils again, but for the time being, that's about it for his fantasy usefulness.

Matheson picked up his second assist of the year in a 2-1 loss to New Jersey on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The 23-year-old blueliner is off to a slow start with just two points and a minus-5 rating in 15 games this season. Matheson signed an eight-year, $39 million contract just before the regular season started. So far, that contract isn't exactly looking like a bargain.

Matheson signed an eight-year, $39 million contract with the Panthers on Saturday, TSN reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 23-year-old blueliner played 81 games last season, scoring seven goals and adding 10 assists. Matheson fired 179 shots on goal combined with 118 blocked shots last campaign, and he's proven himself enough to be a long-term asset in Florida. He's locked into a top-four role this season and is currently paired with Alex Petrovic ahead of Saturday's matchup with the Lightning.

Matheson has recorded two points, both of which were goals, in his last 24 games.
EDGE Analysis
The pair of snipes actually came back in the same game on Jan. 31 against Ottawa. Of course, Matheson is a young defenseman acclimating to the rigors of life at the NHL level, so there's bound to be peaks and valleys, but his extended cold streak is nonetheless still frustrating. Then again, the 2012 first-rounder never was a huge scorer from the back end in junior or with Boston College, so his 15 points in 58 games in South Florida really aren't all that bad based on his track record (career-high 25 points for BC).

Matheson scored a pair of goals with seven shots, two blocks, a hit and a minor penalty in Tuesday's 6-5 win against the Senators.
EDGE Analysis
Matheson snapped a 15-game point drought, and 20-game goalless streak, in grand style. Despite the big game, Matheson isn't a recommended fantasy option since he is more of a defensive-minded rearguard who rarely breaks through on the score sheet.

Matheson has had a fine rookie season thus far, contributing three goals and nine assists in 40 games.
EDGE Analysis
The 22-year-old has done well for himself in the infancy of his NHL career, as he's averaged over 20 minutes of ice time (20:26) while firing a significant amount of rubber on net (95 shots). Matheson is currently skating on the team's second defense pairing with Aaron Ekblad and also occasionally receives time on the second power-play unit, as well.

Matheson collected an assist in Monday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Bruins.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie rearguard snapped a nine-game point drought with the assist, and he's now up to eight points in 25 games this season. Matheson has averaged a hearty amount of ice time (19:38) this season and skated in a career-high 24:13 on Monday to fill the hole left by Keith Yandle, who departed early on with a lower-body injury. If Yandle is forced to miss time, Matheson -- a first-round pick from 2012 -- would likely see an uptick in ice time, so those in deeper leagues may want to pencil him onto their watch list.
