No one claimed Mikael Samuelsson after the Detroit Red Wings decided to send him to the AHL. He's with Grand Rapids as of Sunday. No big surprise, as he's been either injured, inconsistent or both this season. He only has three points in 26 GP and doesn't really have any peripheral value beyond that.

Mikael Samuelsson will likely be a healthy scratch Saturday night against the Kings. He will make way for the returning Tomas Tatar, who is back from Slovakia where he attended his father's funeral. It has been a long time since Samuelsson has been a factor in fantasy hockey pools.

The Detroit Red Wings' Mikael Samuelsson, who was a healthy scratch on Thursday, admitted that his confidence is down. He has three points in 21 games this season. "That's what I need most of all," Samuelsson said, referring to confidence. "You can say, 'Oh yeah, you have to skate faster, you've got to battle harder.' Yeah, absolutely. I haven't played my best hockey. But it has its reasons too, but I don't want to comment on that. I just have to take it one day at a time." Is his confidence down? "Right now? Yeah, it is," he said. "No question about it."
