Kruger (illness) picked up two helpers in a 3-1 win over Buffalo on Saturday night.

EDGE Analysis

Kruger is a checker with a nose for penalty killing, but he sure looked every part the playmaker on Saturday night. Nice outing, but don't expect it to continue.

Kruger (illness) will suit up for Saturday's road game against the Sabres, Michael Smith of the Hurricanes' official site reports.

EDGE Analysis

The Swede's return should bolster a Carolina penalty kill that ranks 20th in the league, but he probably doesn't have much of a fantasy hockey audience as the owner of a single point (an assist) through 18 games this season.

Kruger (illness) was back on the ice for practice Friday, Michael Smith of the Hurricanes' official site reports.

EDGE Analysis

Since Kruger was able to practice and the Hurricanes don't play again until Saturday evening, it appears as though the Swede will be safe to deploy in fantasy leagues after missing Thursday's road game against the Islanders. However, we can't see this news affecting more than a handful of poolies given that the Swede has produced just one point (an assist) through 16 games.

Kruger (illness) won't play Thursday against the Islanders, Michael Smith of the Hurricanes' official site reports.

EDGE Analysis

Kruger has only tallied one assist in 16 games this campaign, so although his absence may weaken the Hurricanes' penalty-killing unit, it shouldn't impact any fantasy owners' lineups. Phil Di Giuseppe will replace Kruger on Carolina's fourth line for Thursday's matchup with the Islanders.

Kruger (illness) is questionable for Thursday's contest against the Islanders, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.

EDGE Analysis

The former Blackhawk was absent for Wednesday's practice, with Josh Jooris filling in for him as fourth-line center. Carolina will provide an additional update regarding Kruger's chances of playing against the Isles following Thursday's morning skate, though the news shouldn't concern fantasy owners too much considering Kruger has just one point in 16 games this season.

Kruger has failed to record a point in eight consecutive games.

EDGE Analysis

After recording an assist in the season opener against the Wild back on Oct. 7, Kruger has been really struggling offensively of late. He's been averaging roughly 11 minutes of ice time centering the Canes' fourth line this season, and doesn't really move the fantasy needle much in any stat category. The 27-year-old Swede recorded just 17 points last season with the Blackhawks, but he'll be hard-pressed to get back to that level on an offensively mediocre squad like the Hurricanes. Avoid.

Kruger picked up a primary assist on Justin Faulk's goal in Friday's 3-1 home win over the Capitals.

EDGE Analysis

He also went plus-2 and won 63 percent of his draws. Early indications are that Kruger will center the fourth line with fellow countryman Joakim Nordstrom and the industrious Josh Jooris at his sides. It will be interesting to see how quickly Kruger can adjust to the Eastern Conference having spent his first seven seasons in Chicago, but if this preseason contest is any indication, he'll be OK -- just don't expect miracles from the bottom-six role player.

Kruger was traded to the Hurricanes from the Golden Knights on Tuesday in exchange for a 2018 fifth-round pick.

EDGE Analysis

Kruger's brief time in Vegas has already come to an end as he joins several former Blackhawks in Carolina. The center logged 70 games with Chicago last season in which he tallied five goals and 12 helpers, but with the Hawks tight up against the cap, they couldn't afford his just over $3 million cap hit. It seems likely that Vegas was the intermediary on this deal in order to retain some of the 27-year-old's salary.

Kruger has been traded to the Golden Knights, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.

EDGE Analysis

Earlier in June, reports suggested that Kruger would be sent to Vegas, so this latest news doesn't come as much of a surprise. The 27-year-old has spent his entire career in Chicago and is coming off a 2016-17 campaign where he had five goals and 12 assists across 70 games. He'll now have the chance for a fresh start in Vegas, where he'll likely provide depth at center.

Kruger is said to be a "done deal" to head to Vegas, Steven Albritton of KMBC reports.

EDGE Analysis

It needs to be said that neither team has explicitly confirmed this news, but the beginning of the expansion draft parity is definitely worth monitoring. Since Kruger would be eligible to be exposed by Chicago in the draft, the Golden Knights picking him up via trade would mean they could not pick another Hawk in the draft. If the deal is confirmed, it will be accompanied as Kruger going to Vegas as a package deal, most likely Trevor van Riemsdyk or draft picks.
