Marco Sturm may head to Germany soon to play. He has stayed in North America up to this point because he was hoping the lockout would be over by now and he wanted to spend more time with his family. Sturm had five points in 42 games with Florida last season after he was acquired from Vancouver. He began the lockout as an unrestricted free agent.

It's not likely that free agent Marco Sturm will sign a contract until a new CBA is reached. With uncertainty surrounding the league at this time and worries that the salary cap will be reduced, teams are exercising caution by waiting to fill in their rosters. Expect Sturm to eventually catch on somewhere and play a third line role.

Marco Sturm was a gamble that didn't pay off for the Florida Panthers. Sturm had just three goals and five points in 42 games after Florida acquired him from Vancouver on Oct. 22. "Obviously, it wasn't the season I was hoping for," Sturm said. "That's what I told Dale and Kevin [in my exit meeting]. I'm glad they traded for me here. I had a good time. We did a lot of good things here. I just had some tough injuries there but I've got to try to stay healthy, work hard again and see what happens." He was referring to GM Dale Tallon and head coach Kevin Dineen. Sturm is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer and while Sturm appears to be open to re-signing with the Panthers, Florida will probably opt to move on.

Marco Sturm is considered questionable for Game 1 on Friday night because of a lower-body injury. He logged just 7:19 of ice time in Florida's regular-season finale versus Carolina. In 48 games between the Vancouver Canucks and Panthers, Sturm notched just three goals and two assists. Krys Barch will probably take his place on the fourth line, alongside John Madden and Tomas Kopecky.

Marco Sturm didn't participate in Monday's practice due to soreness. Sturm said he's fine and given that the Panthers' series doesn't start until Friday, we'll give him the benefit of the doubt. He had five points and 25 penalty minutes in 48 games this season.

Marco Sturm has been a healthy scratch for Florida's last two games after he returned from knee surgery on Mar. 1 against Winnipeg. "He had a long stretch off, had one game back and was kind of able to get his sea legs under him," said coach Kevin Dineen. "Now we've gotta make sure he has lots of jump in his step. We want him to be a top-notch player when he does get back in the lineup." Sturm has been limited to 35 games this season, between Vancouver and Florida, due to injuries. He has produced only two goals and one assist during that span, so he shouldn't be on anyone's fantasy down the stretch.

Marco Sturm is projected to miss three-to-four weeks after undergoing knee surgery Monday. The procedure was described as "minor" by the club. Sturm has appeared in 28 games with the Panthers since being traded from Vancouver, but he has just three points and 23 penalty minutes over that time.

Marco Sturm underwent minor knee surgery on Monday. It's not clear how long Sturm will be out for, but he was already on the injured reserve list for what was believed to be a groin injury. He has three points and 25 penalty minutes in 34 games this season.
