Ellerby wasn't extended a qualifying offer by the Jets on Monday and will become an unrestricted free agent, Tim Campbell of the Winnipeg Free Press reports. Ellerby recorded 16 points in 41 games for AHL St. John's last season, but otherwise spent much of his time in the press box during his stint with the Jets. The former 10th overall draft pick in 2007 looks to be little more than an organizational depth option on the blue line at this juncture.

Saturday's game went down as the only appearance of the season for Ellerby, who had sat in the press box since being called up from AHL St. John's in mid-March.
