Braun had an assist, three blocks, and three shots on goal in the Sharks' 3-1 win Tuesday over the Flyers.

EDGE Analysis

The veteran defenseman has been filling up the scoresheet as of late, posting an assist in four straight games, while piling up 11 blocks and seven shots on goal in that span. The assists lately have been great for Braun's fantasy owners, but the abundance of blocks, shots on goal, and ice time are what make Braun a consistent performer in both season-long and daily formats.

Braun collected an assist in Sunday's 5-0 dismantling of the Canucks.

EDGE Analysis

Braun finished the impressive victory with one assist, two blocks and two hits. He now has five assists, 38 hits and 35 blocks on the early season. Braun has proven that his offensive output will be random (five points in 11 games) but he is on pace to surpass last season's career highs in hits (136) and blocks (161). If you're in a league that values these stats, he is definitely worth a speculative look.

Braun assisted on a pair of goals in a 3-0 win over New Jersey on Friday.

EDGE Analysis

This isn't what's expected from Braun, but his owners will happily take it. With 10 hits to his name in this win along with the points, this was a solid night for Braun owners.

Braun set up an even-strength goal in Tuesday's 5-2 home win over the Canadiens.

EDGE Analysis

This was the American defenseman's first point of the season. Braun's averaging just a tick over 20 minutes per game, but fantasy owners shouldn't expect consistent offensive production from him. He recorded 161 blocked shots in 81 games last season, which is truly the bread and butter in terms of what he'll contribute from a fantasy perspective.

Braun posted four blocked shots in Friday's 6-1 loss against the Stars.

EDGE Analysis

Braun has set a new career high with 150 blocked shots. He also has managed a career-best 126 hits, but that's about the only two categories he steadily contributes for fantasy owners.

Braun has racked up a career-high 99 hits (and counting) in 60 games this season.

EDGE Analysis

The rearguard has added triple-digit blocked shots (110) to complement his affinity for laying the body this year. Unfortunately, Braun's paltry nine points and basically non-existent power-play time seriously hinder his fantasy value in the vast majority of formats.

Braun has just seven points in 47 games this season.

EDGE Analysis

The rearguard was able to put up an identical 23 points in each of the last two seasons, but has taken a major step back offensively in 2016-17. Where his game is developing, however, is on the defensive side of the puck, as his 84 hits and 82 blocked shots will attest. Braun had 95 and 140, respectively, last year, so perhaps the Sharks' coaching staff has asked him to take on more of a shutdown role. Nonetheless, his lack of scoring makes him a fringe fantasy commodity at best, even in leagues that count hits and blocks.

Braun scored a third-period goal during Friday's win over Philadelphia.

EDGE Analysis

It was just the second tally of the season for Braun, and with only six points, 36 shots and a minus-3 rating, he doesn't provide a lot of fantasy value. Additionally, he entered Friday's game starting just 39.6 percent of his five-on-five shifts in the offensive zone, which further hinders his upside.

Braun notched his first goal of the year in Tuesday's shootout win over the Leafs.

EDGE Analysis

He's not much of a fantasy asset, as Braun now owns a mere five points in 29 games this year, and he doesn't contribute enough in the defensive stats to make up for that in specialty formats. At 29 years old, Braun's already probably about as good as he'll ever be, so there's no need to keep holding out hope for him if there's an interesting candidate on your waiver wire.

Braun has failed to get on the scoresheet despite playing in all nine games this season.

EDGE Analysis

Sure, the seventh-year NHLer is known mostly as a defensive specialist, but his lack of even a single point this year is surprising given his hearty amount of ice time (20:05 per game). Braun actually put up 46 points over the last two seasons, so perhaps they'll start coming in bunches once he gets on the board.
