Eberle is still looking for his first points of the season.

EDGE Analysis

The goal-scoring winger was moved down the lineup in the preseason, winding up alongside Brock Nelson and Anders Lee. Through three games, Eberle has failed to find the scoresheet meanwhile, the trio has combined for only three points between them. No need to panic as it is still early and Eberle, as well as his linemates, have proven that they can score in bunches.

Eberle has been moved to the second-line, Newsday reports.

EDGE Analysis

This move comes as a bit of a surprise as the Islanders are expected to struggle on offense this season, so why mess with the one line that worked last year. Eberle is also entering the final year of his contract and will be looking to cash in big once again after a successful season. Since most believe the Islanders won't be a playoff team this season and have not engaged Eberle in contract negotiations, it would seem to in the best interest of the team and player that Eberle have a big season so that his trade value would be maximized if and when that time comes.

Eberle tallied one assist in the Islanders' 3-0 win over Philadelphia on Sunday.

EDGE Analysis

The 28-year-old right wing sniper is coming off a 59-point campaign a year ago and may need to take on more of a leadership role this season, now that John Tavares is no longer with the team. Eberle, an eight-year veteran, will look to post his sixth straight 20-plus goal season in 2018-19.

Eberle and the Islanders have not begun negotiations on a new contract, Newsday.

EDGE Analysis

Eberle had a solid first season with the Islanders as he netted 25 goals and 34 assists in 59 games. If the Islanders aren't able to come to a contract agreement with Eberle, it would seem unlikely that they would make the same mistake they made with John Tavares and risk losing Eberle for no compensation. The longer Eberle goes without a contract extension, the more likely he is to be traded before the deadline. While with the Islanders however, Eberle is slated to play on the top line with Matthew Barzal and Anthony Beauvillier.

Eberle enjoyed a solid first season with the Islanders as he tallied 25 goals, 34 assists, and was a plus-5 in 81 games.

EDGE Analysis

Eberle was initially acquired by the Islanders to play on the top line opposite John Tavares. That duo didn't click so Eberle was eventually placed on a line with Calder Trophy finalist Matt Barzal and that duo along with Anthony Beauvillier worked extremely well together. That trio will likely play together next season, but could face much more defensive attention should John Tavares leave via free agency.

Eberle recorded two assists during Tuesday's 5-4 win over Philadelphia.

EDGE Analysis

With 25 goals and 34 assists for the campaign, Eberle needs to mark the scoresheet once through the Islanders final two games to return to the 60-point plateau for the first time since the 2014-15 season. He's fit in nicely with rookie Mathew Barzal, as the duo has clicked for a respectable 3.79 goals per 60 minutes. However, his slight uptick in production this season can largely be attributed to his rebound in shooting percentage (13.9) after posting a career-low 9.6 mark last year.

Eberle dished out three helpers -- two on the power play -- in Thursday's 7-6 loss to the Lightning.

EDGE Analysis

You have to feel for Eberle, who suffered through six lean defensive seasons in Edmonton before the team finally turned a corner last season, only to be traded to an Islanders team that's bringing up the rear in the league rankings defensively this year. On the bright side, he's now pushed three points ahead of last season's 51 in nine fewer appearances.

Eberle (undisclosed) is expected to play Saturday against the Penguins.

EDGE Analysis

Look for Eberle to reprise his role in the top six and on the No.3 power-play unit following a one-game absence. He's collected 46 points (22 goals, 24 assists) through 64 games in his debut season with the Isles.

Eberle (undisclosed) won't dress Friday against the Canadiens, Arthur Staple of The Athletic New York City reports.

EDGE Analysis

This will be the first game Eberle misses since the 2015-16 campaign. It'll be tough for the Islanders to make up what he brings to the table, as he has compiled 22 goals, 46 points and 147 shots on goal through 64 games this season. Since Casey Cizikas (personal) will be sitting out as well, blueliner Thomas Hickey will fill in his place, since the Islanders will roll with seven defensemen,

Eberle (undisclosed) may not be able to suit up Friday versus Montreal, Arthur Staple of The Athletic reports.

EDGE Analysis

Eberle is described as being sore and likely a game-time decision. The Islanders could be short multiple forwards as Casey Cizikas is also questionable to play due to the birth of his first child. Eberle has points in three straight games and has been a force on the second line with Matthew Barzal and Anthony Beauvillier. If he is unable to play Friday, then his next chance to play would be Saturday in Pittsburgh in what are quickly becoming must win game for the Islanders.
