MacDonald has agreed to a contract with the Schwenninger Wild Wings of Germany, The New Glasgow News reports. MacDonald was the No. 3 goalie on Montreal's organization depth chart last season, but made all 26 of his appearances with AHL Hamilton. Now 35 years old and unlikely to latch on in a backup role with any NHL club this season, MacDonald will likely finish up his career in Europe before calling it quits.

MacDonald was recalled from AHL Hamilton on Wednesday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports. The Canadiens will more than likely rest Carey Price during practices throughout the playoffs, so MacDonald's recall gives the team two goalies to work with during those sessions, with backup netminder Dustin Tokarski representing the other. MacDonald is a clear No. 3 on the organizational depth chart and won't have a shot at appearing in the postseason unless Price or Tokarski sustains an injury at some point.

The Canadiens have assigned MacDonald to AHL Hamilton. MacDonald's demotion would appear to be a good sign with regard to Carey Price's status for Tuesday's game against the Preds.

MacDonald was reassigned to AHL Hamilton on Monday, TSN.ca reports. MacDonald served as the backup to Carey Price over the weekend while Dustin Tokarski picked up some ice time with Hamilton. With Tokarski now back in Montreal, MacDonald will head back to the minors to function in a depth capacity.

The Canadiens recalled MacDonald from AHL Hamilton on Friday. MacDonald will replace Dustin Tokarski as the backup goaltender behind Carey Price. Tokarski started just six games all year, and did not see any action in December, so expect MacDonald's playing time to be sparse.

Joey MacDonald has joined Montreal Canadiens on a one-year, two-way contract. MacDonald had a 2.90 GAA and .890 save percentage in 11 games with Calgary in 2013-14. He's a solid veteran option to store in the AHL and call up in the event of an injury.

Joey MacDonald let in two goals on nine shots in Calgary's 6-5 loss to Nashville Friday night. Joni Ortio started the game, but he was pulled off in the second period after he had allowed four goals on 13 shots. Neither of the goalies played well and Calgary's five goals wasn't enough to get points. MacDonald now has a 4-4-1 record with a 3.16 GAA and .881 save percentage. Those are pretty awful numbers so Ortio will continue to start until Karri Ramo is healthy again.

Joey MacDonald wants to take advantage of the time he gets in the NHL. MacDonald played his first NHL game since Nov. 1 on Friday night, making 22 of 25 saves in a 4-3 shootout win. It was his first win since Oct. 11. "It's just great to get another opportunity to come back again, with 15, 16 games left, to show I can still play in this league," he said. "A month ago I didn't think that was going to happen. I didn't know what was going to happen. When you're playing in the best league you get noticed. For me, if it's not going to be here, at least there are 29 other teams watching. When you go down to the American Hockey League there are scouts around, but it's not the same as being on TV every night and 30 scouts watching from different teams, different leagues."
