Rosehill signed a contract with the Braehead Clan of the Elite Ice Hockey League in the United Kingdom on Tuesday, TSN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rosehill spent the past two seasons toiling in the minors with AHL Lehigh Valley, an affiliate of the Flyers. The 31-year-old recorded just eight points in 117 NHL games, and will be best remembered for his physical play, having notched 352 PIM in that same span.

Rosehill was placed on waivers Friday, John Clark of CSN Philly reports. In waiving Rosehill, the Flyers will be able to create some cap room, but it looks like the team will enter the season with only 22 players. Rosehill offers toughness on the fourth line, but is a virtual non-contributor in every relevant fantasy category except penalty minutes.

Jay Rosehill has spent six straight games as a healthy scratch. Even when Rosehill does play, he only averages 4:25 minutes per game. If he ever establishes himself as a regular on the Flyers fourth line, he could end up leading the NHL in penalty minutes. As it is, he's accumulated 59 PIM in just 22 games.

Jay Rosehill scored his first goal of the season on Saturday. Rosehill was an assist short of the Gordie Howe hat trick as he had a fight later in the game after his first period goal. "He plays so hard," defenseman Mark Streit said of Rosehill. "Sometimes he plays five minutes, sometimes less, sometimes more. He scored a goal and had a big fight. He's a big part of our locker room. It's great to have him on the team. He gives us a lot of positive energy out there." Rosehill has one point and 28 penalty minutes in nine games this season and will continue to put up good penalty minute totals if he is in the lineup.

Jay Rosehill picked up 14 penalty minutes in Philadelphia's 2-1 win over Florida on Tuesday. Rosehill turned a two minute roughing call into a double-minor and 10-minute misconduct on his way to the penalty box. He saw Zac Rinaldo surrounded by Panthers players and decided to respond by attacking Tomas Kopeck from behind. New coach Craig Berube felt Rosehill's actions, which occurred in the third period when his team was trying to preserve their one-goal lead, were "unacceptable," but does he actually have some kind of punishment in mind? When a reporter asked him that, Berube said, "You want me to spank him? Get lost." As long as Berube plays Rosehill, he will be a big source of penalty minutes.

Jay Rosehill thinks enforcer John Scott's decision to fight Phil Kessel is a sign of the changing times. The idea that the bigger, stronger players battle each other instead of the skill players seems to be fading. "Yeah, I know the code," Rosehill said. "The code is changing. The rules are different. I know coaches recently say, 'Go after their skill.' That is the mentality and that will keep [happening] because if two tough guys fight each other, what does that matter? There are different schools of thought." Rosehill, like Scott, is a player known more for his physical nature than anything else. If Rosehill ever played a full NHL season, he would probably lead the league in penalty minutes.

Jay Rosehill may play Saturday against Carolina. He got a black eye in a fight earlier in the week but did participate in the Flyer practice. Consider him probable.

Philadelphia has announced the signing of Jay Rosehill to a two-year extension. He was acquired from Anaheim in exchange for Harry Zolnierczyk on April 1 and in seven games with the Flyers he has amassed 47 penalty minutes. Rosehill has also chipped in a goal and 10 hits.

Jay Rosehill will probably make his Philadelphia debut Thursday against Toronto. Rosehill has played all 72 of his previous NHL games for the Maple Leafs. Toronto also leads the league in fighting majors this season, so he shouldn't have a problem finding some to tangle with Thursday night.
