With Tomas Vokoun signed for the next two seasons in Pittsburgh, Brent Johnson is expected to walk as a unrestricted free agent next month. The Penguins wanted to upgrade their backup goalie in the off-season and they have done that by getting Vokoun's rights from the Washington Capitals, for a seventh-round pick, and then locking him up to a new contract. Johnson appeared in 16 games this past campaign behind starter Marc-Andre Fleury, while posting a 6-7-2 record with an .883 save percentage and a 3.11 GAA.
