The Edmonton Oilers have re-signed veteran Ryan Smyth to a two-year/$4.5 million contract.

The two sides had agreed to the length of contract in early May but money had been the sticking point. The 36-year-old had 46 points this season but after starting the year hot with 24 points in his first 22 games, Smyth had only 22 points in his final 60 games. Look for him to be a third line player in Edmonton alongside Ales Hemsky and Shawn Horcoff as the Oilers have a lot of firepower on their top two lines.
