Sam Gagner is looking for a breakout season as he heads into a contract season.

Gagner will play in his sixth NHL season and it's hard to believe that he is still only 23 years of age but the former London Knight made the Oilers squad as an 18-year-old and hasn't looked back. The Oilers have drafted a plethora of offensive forwards since taking Gagner with the sixth overall pick in the 2007 Entry Draft so he could start the season on the third line, but look for the Oilers to have a top nine and bottom three rather than the usual top and bottom six. He could be trade bait at some point this season as he signed a one-year deal in the off-season for $3.2 million and that is a lot of money to be paying for a third line player.
