The Flyers are expected to carve out a more substantial role for 23-year-old Scott Laughton, which only adds pressure on Read to reverse tide in 2017-18. For what it's worth, the Ontario native sounds up for the challenge. "You've got to show up and earn your ice time," he said. "That's kind of why I'm here early is to be in the best shape I can be and on the ice as much as I can and when it comes to Day 1, I'll be the best I can be and hopefully given the best opportunity to succeed."
