Nicklas Backstrom is day-to-day with a suspected head injury. Backstrom was elbowed in the head by Rene Bourque during Tuesday's game. Backstrom attempted to stay in the contest, participating in one more shift, before he permanently exited the game. According to the Capitals, Backstrom is now being evaluated and is day-to-day. The good news is Backstrom did exercise on Wednesday.
