Mike Green feels healthy and believes that new Washington Capitals head coach Adam Oates will implement a playing style that should complement his game.

Green has only tallied 31 points in 81 regular season games over the past two seasons due to a variety of injuries. "It was unfortunate the last couple of years that I've suffered from injuries. But I believe that I'm over them now." Green told Mike Vogel of capitals.nhl.com. He also expressed his excitement about the coaching change. "I also at the same time am really excited that [new head coach] Adam [Oates] is here. From what I've heard, how he likes to coach fits my style of play and also a lot of the other guys." He signed a new three-year/$18.25 million contract extension on July 16th, so it is clear that the Capitals believe Green can regain his 2008-2010 pace, when he recorded back-to-back seasons with over 70 points.
