Byfield was reassigned to AHL Ontario after clearing the NHL's COVID-19 protocols Thursday.

Byfield has yet to play in an NHL game this season, he will rejoin AHL Ontario where he has made four appearances but has been held pointless this season. Last season with the AHL affiliate he logged eight goals and 12 assists through 32 appearances. He will seek to rekindle that production in the minors to earn another shot at the NHL.
