Jack Johnson scored the overtime winner as the United States defeated Canada 5-4 at the World Championships Saturday.
It was only the fourth time in 42 opportunities that the Americans have defeated Canada at the Worlds so this is quite an accomplishment for the U.S. squad. It was his second goal of the game and third of the tournament as the Americans are now 2-0 in round-robin play. "We had the lead three times and couldn't hold it," Johnson said. "That was kind of frustrating, but I think we deserved to win this game. I think we were the better team for the majority of the game. This is a good starting point. We have a lot of first-year players who are trying to leave their mark in this tournament, and that's a recipe for success. It's a great win, but we're probably going to have to face them again (here) to get the medal we want."
