Evander Kane said the picture posted on his Twitter account on Wednesday, depicting him with stacks of cash in his hands, was taken in November and "it was a joke."
"We're locked out as a union," said Kane, who said that no one from the Players' Association has asked him to remove the tweet. "My tweet has nothing to do with the NHL collective bargaining agreement or the negotiation. Like I said, it was a joke and that's all it was." He didn't mean to offend anyone, but at the same time he probably should have exercised better judgment given the state that the NHL is in because of the lockout.
