Despite nagging groin injuries earlier this season and, more recently, a troublesome hip, Jaromir Jagr has produced 18 goals and 45 points in 57 games for the Philadelphia Flyers - and his uncanny ability to maintain puck possession still makes him revered by his peers. That's why, at 40, Jagr was chosen the 18th-best player in the NHL by players in a recent Hockey News poll. Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren and Jagr's agent, Petr Svoboda, have had preliminary discussions on a contract extension. Jagr, a potential unrestricted free agent July 1, would like a one-year deal.
