Coach Guy Boucher confirmed the Sens current roster -- which includes Varone -- will start the season on Opening Night, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Varone impressed throughout training camp and preseason, and with Clarke MacArthur (concussion) out for the foreseeable future, the left wing needed some added depth. The 25-year-old is expected to line up next to Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Tom Pyatt to start out the year, but could find himself in the top six based on performance and a drop off in talent level after Mike Hoffman. The 2009 fifth-round pick only has 43 games to his name, producing just 10 points (five goals and five assists).
