DAILY PRIME - AUGUST 21, 2013: CENTRAL DIVISION- OVERRATED, UNDERRATED primepucks.com Wed 8/21/13 8:52 AM

Chicago Blackhawks: Overrated: Brent Seabrook One 40+ point season in his 8-year career. Will most likely lose top power-play time to Nick Leddy. Underrated: Patrick Sharp Prior to injury-plagued 2012/13 campaign, scored 67 goals in two seasons. Consistent scoring threat. Colorado Avalanche: Overrated: Erik Johnson        Still waiting for the former overall no.1 pick to live up to his potential. Huge fantasy bust. Underrated: P.A. Parenteau His 43 points in 48 games proved he doesn't need John Tavares. Borderline point-per-game producer. Dallas Stars: Overrated: Alex Goligoski    Don't get me wrong. Should be a lock for 40, but this d-man is not consistent enough to warrant fantasy elite status. Underrated: Jamie Benn     Move to wing and chance to play with Tyler Seguin could result in breakout season. Minnesota Wild: Overrated: Dany Heatley No longer the sure-fire 40-50 goal scorer, but has settled in as a decent secondary threat. Parise is clearly the Wild's best LW. Underrated: Mikko Koivu Not an elite point-producer, but could flourish while playing with Parise in Year 2. 70-75 point upside if he stays healthy. Nashville: Overrated: None With the exception of Pekka Rinne and Shea Weber, there shouldn't be any other high-rated fantasy options in Nashville. Underrated: Shea Weber The Predators have a tough time scoring, but don't let that fool you. Finished strong last season with 27 points in last 35 games. Absolutely, an elite fantasy option on defense. St. Louis: Overrated: Derek Roy Has not been the same since coming back from a torn quadricep surgery in 2010. No longer a point-per-game scoring threat. Underrated: Alex Pietrangelo His 24 points last season is not a true reflection of his fantasy worth. The addition of defensive Jay Bouwmeester should allow the highly talented blueliner to have the "green light" on the scoring end. Could surpass his career-high of 51 points in 13/14. Winnipeg: Overrated: Olli Jokinen The 34-year old has lost his elite scoring touch, but needs to provide a physical presence for this young, but talented Jets squad. Underrated: Zach Bogosian The skilled defenseman is one Byfuglien or Enstrom injury away from becoming very fantasy relevant. Watch him.

CENTER DEREK ROY JUST SIGNED A ONE YEAR DEAL WITH ST. LOUIS The Blues just signed Derek Roy to a one year contract worth $4 million. Roy had a tough year last season splitting between Vancouver and Dallas. The 30 year old scored only 28 points in 42 games. Roy is somewhat small at 5'9" and 180 lbs., but he does have speed and skill, and he did score 81 points with the Buffalo Sabres in 2007-2008. He is a bit of a sleeper as he has the potential to score 60 points on the Blues team. read more

Roy is somewhat small at 5'9" and 180 lbs., but he does have speed and skill, while scoring a career high 81 points with the Buffalo Sabres in 2007-2008.  He is a bit of a sleeper as he has the potential to score 60 points on the Blues team. CHICAGO SIGNS NIKOLAI KHABIBULIN TO A ONE YEAR DEAL The Blackhawks have signed 40 year Nikolai Khabibulin to a one year deal worth $1.7 million to be the back-up goaltender to starter Corey Crawford. With Ray Emery gone to Philadelphia, Chicago needed a back-up goalie. Khabibulin played in 11 games last season as the back-up to Devan Dubnyk in Edmonton, going 4-6-1 with a .923 SP and a 2.54 GAA. The Blackhawks are hoping he can play 12 -15 games this year to spell Crawford.  He has no fantasy value, because if Crawford were to have a serious injury, the Blackhawks would get another goalie, as Khabibulin is no longer capable of being a full time starter. CHICAGO ALSO SIGNED DEFENSEMAN MICHAL ROSZIVAL TO A TWO YEAR DEAL The former Ranger was instrumental in the Blackhawks winning the Stanley Cup. He is a stay at home defenseman with good size, very important in the NHL, but not so much in fantasy hockey.  He had only 12 assists in 29 games, but he did have a plus 18 rating. FORWARD MICHAL HANDZUS SIGNED A ONE YEAR DEAL WITH CHICAGO Like Roszival, Handzus is the kind of player a team needs to win the Stanley Cup. He is big at 6'4" and 220 lbs.  He works hard in the corners, and pushes his weight around.  Unfortunately, he is not much of a scorer, as he had only 8 points last year in 39 games between Chicago and San Jose.  He did score 11 points in 23 playoff games, but don't expect much scoring from him this year.

The Canucks were desperately seeking another centre with Ryan Kesler out with a broken foot. Roy has four goals and 18 assists in 30 games with the Stars this season. He should continue to be a solid fantasy player with his new team.

Roy missed the Stars last 5 games but will return tonight. Roy picked 2 assists in his first 4 games as a Star. He will play alongside Loui Eriksson and Tomas Vincour. The Stars need Roy and his line mates to produce as they have struggled to score on a consistent basis.

Roy will miss his 4th straight game tonight, and looks like his 5th tomorrow as well. The Stars hope to have him back next week but that still is tentative. The Stars called up Antoine Roussel on Thursday to fill in for Roy and he will make his NHL debut tonight.
