Derek Joslin has been called up from the minors. He has split the 2012-13 season between the AHL's Chicago Wolves and Worcester Sharks. Joslin has four goals, 16 points and 47 penalty minutes in 66 minor-league contests this year.

Derek Joslin lined up as a forward again in Monday's win over Washington. He has played on the fourth line, as a winger, for the last three games after spending the previous five contests as a healthy scratch. Joslin had a scrappy night versus Washington with nine minutes in the sin bin. He dropped the gloves with Matt Hendricks in second period.

Derek Joslin could end up playing the wing on the fourth line in Friday's game against his ex-San Jose teammates. He has been a healthy scratch for the past five games and is willing to play anywhere to get back into the lineup. "I think they think I need to get back in there and get back in the game," Joslin said. "If it's on wing, I'll play wing. I'll play wherever they need me to be. I have a big body and along with Anthony Stewart I think we can create some things down low and take the puck to the net, keep it simple and just get in front of their goalie."

Derek Joslin has been a healthy scratch the past two games. With the return of a healthy Jaroslav Spacek, Joslin has been relegated to the press box. He has no fantasy value in standard leagues.

The Hurricanes have summoned Derek Joslin from his conditioning stint in the minors. He collected three assists in four games during his time with AHL Charlotte. Joslin has two points and a minus-7 rating in 14 games this season with Carolina.
