Desharnais collected three assists through 14:58 of ice time during Tuesday's 5-4 loss to Florida.
EDGE Analysis
With Mika Zibanejad (upper body) out of action Tuesday, Desharnais slotted in between Chris Kreider and Pavel Buchnevich, and the trio combined for three goals. It's unlikely this outing does much to boost Desharnais' limited fantasy value for the long term, but it's not out of the question to suggest the veteran will provide a fleeting uptick for the duration of Zibanejad's absence. It's a situation to keep tabs on at the very least.

Desharnais will watch Sunday's contest against Ottawa from the press box as a healthy scratch.
EDGE Analysis
The former Hab is scoreless with a minus-3 rating and zero shots on goal in his past three contests, so the decision doesn't come as a complete surprise. Desharnais' absence makes way for Paul Carey, who's scored two points in a 40-game NHL career.

Desharnais recorded an assist in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Bruins.
EDGE Analysis
Desharnais is operating as the third-line center, but he's got no shortage of talent flanking him in a deep New York lineup. His first-period helper on Jimmy Vesey's second goal in a 29-second span gave the diminutive Desharnais eight points in 17 games with his new club.

Desharnais recorded a goal and an assist during Tuesday's 5-4 overtime loss to Pittsburgh.
EDGE Analysis
After missing the scoresheet in the first five games of the campaign, Desharnais now has a goal and two helpers in his past two outings. He's bounced around the depth chart a bit too much to be counted on in most settings. However, the veteran has clearly established some quick chemistry with J.T. Miller and Chris Kreider on the second line, and Desharnais' fantasy value would spike if he locked himself into the role for a prolonged stretch.

Desharnais agreed to sign a contract with the Rangers on Tuesday, David Pagnotta of TheFourthPeriod.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Desharnais split last season between Montreal and Edmonton after a late-February trade sent him to the Oilers. Currently at 30 years old, there's no guarantee the center will be able to secure a spot on the NHL roster when the season begins.

Desharnais scored the overtime winner and added an assist in Thursday's 4-3 Game 5 triumph over San Jose.
EDGE Analysis
Desharnais' goal 18:15 into overtime was only made possible by his clutch assist on Oscar Klefbom's game-tying goal with 2:46 to play in regulation. The trade acquisition from Montreal was an unlikely hero after contributing just one shot without a point through the series' first four games.

Desharnais contributed an assist and a pair of shots Saturday against Detroit in his first game with the Oilers.
EDGE Analysis
The 30-year-old's value certainly increases in Edmonton versus Montreal, where he'd fallen off the depth chart almost entirely. In Edmonton, he's skating on the third line. The line probably doesn't produce a ton, but at least he'll be getting some ice.

The Canadiens traded Desharnais to the Oilers in exchange for defenseman Brandon Davidson on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Desharnais will get a chance to start over in Edmonton after being a healthy scratch in plenty of games in Montreal lately. He fell out of favor with the Habs, posting just four goals and 10 points over 31 games. However, he posted 48 points in a full season in 2014-15, and he once posted 60 points in 2011-12. Desharnais is a talented playmaker, he just needs to see regular ice time. Perhaps a change of scenery will get him going again.

Desharnais replaced Michael McCarron on the fourth line during Friday's practice, Stu Cowan of Hockey Inside Out reports.
EDGE Analysis
Montreal coach Claude Julien made several tweaks to his lines during the practice, but did not confirm those lines would stick for Saturday night's game in Toronto. Desharnais, a healthy scratch the last six games, is a better offensive initiator than McCarron -- an important consideration for a team that's scored just 13 goals in 10 February games (2-7-1).

Desharnais has been a healthy scratch for five straight games.
EDGE Analysis
Desharnais, who is in the final year of his contract, finally appears to be on his last legs in a Montreal uniform. With just 10 points in 29 games, Desharnais is looking at his lowest output since 2010.
