Senators GM Pierre Dorion told TSN 1200 that MacArthur, who's battled several neck and concussion injuries, may have played his last NHL game, Ken Warren of the Ottawa Citizen reports.

EDGE Analysis

The GM used the words "highly doubtful" that MacArthur will be able to hit game ice in the NHL ever again. The scoring winger did make a courageous return in time for the tail end of the 2016-17 campaign, as well as the corresponding postseason, but he's appeared in only eight regular-season games the past two years. Assuming this is the last we see of MacArthur, he finishes with 304 points (133 goals, 171 assists) over 552 career contests.

MacArthur (neck) appeared to be over his injury woes heading in to 2017-18, but failed his medical Thursday.

EDGE Analysis

MacArthur has a well-documented history of concussions, which have limited to just four regular season games in each of the last two campaigns. When MacArthur suffered the neck injury in the 2017 postseason, the team said it was not concussion related, but there's a possibility that there were further effects as time progressed. Ottawa hasn't given any information as to MacArthur's timeline for recovery, but should release additional updates as they become available.

MacArthur (neck) was invited to the Senators' training camp, with physical fitness testing set to commence Thursday morning.

EDGE Analysis

MacArthur's battle with concussions has been well-documented, but it was never clear if his neck injury from May was directly linked to that serious condition. The Alberta native managed to appear in all 19 playoff contests this past season, but it's worth noting that MacArthur has played in all 82 regular-season games just once over his 11-year NHL career; he remains quite the dice roll in fantasy leagues comprised of light rosters.

MacArthur was playing with an ongoing neck injury, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports.

EDGE Analysis

It is unclear if MacArthur's neck injury is related to the concussions that kept him out for all but the final four games of the regular season. The winger was crucial to the Senators postseason run as he racked up three goals and six helpers during the playoffs. General manager Pierre Dorion didn't seem overly consider about this ailment's long-term impact, so look for the 32-year-old to be ready for a full 82-game season next year.

MacArthur scored a second-period goal during Friday's Game 4 loss to Pittsburgh.

EDGE Analysis

With Ottawa down 3-0, MacArthur scored an important goal to keep the Senators within striking distance in Game 4. The final score was 3-2, and the comeback fell short, but it wasn't a cakewalk for the Penguins. While this was just the third goal of the playoffs for MacArthur, he's registered six points and 13 shots through his past six games. The veteran winger is playing well for Ottawa and is worth considering in daily contests while moving the offensive needle.

MacArthur recorded two first-period assists during Tuesday's Game 6 win over the Rangers.

EDGE Analysis

The veteran winger helped Ottawa grab a two-goal lead in the opening frame, and the Senators never looked back. MacArthur didn't make a significant impact on the series until the past two games, but his four assists in Games 5 and 6 were critical to eliminating the Rangers. After playing just eight regular season games over the past two seasons, MacArthur's return is a feel-good story, and his recent uptick in production has been a huge boost for Ottawa.

MacArthur set up two goals in Saturday's Game 5, 5-4 overtime win over the Rangers.

EDGE Analysis

These were MacArthur's first points this series. He continues to be the story of the season after appearing in just four games in this season and four the previous one, all because of concussion symptoms.

MacArthur left Saturday's Game 2 with a pinched nerve in his shoulder, but will be in the lineup for Tuesday's Game 3 against the Rangers, Mike Morreale of NHL.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

Fans of the game will be happy to hear the news, as there were fears that yet another concussion was what forced MacArthur out of Game 2. In eight contest postseason contests, MacArthur has tallied two goals and zero assists, but has the potential to breakout offensively due to the sheer amount of power-play time that he receives (averaging 3:24 per game).

MacArthur left Saturday's Game 2 against the Rangers with an apparent injury, Chris Johnston of Sportsnet reports.

EDGE Analysis

While MacArthur hasn't officially been ruled out at this moment, he missed the final 14:23 of the second period, with no sign of a return. MacArthur only just returned from a serious concussion that almost ended his career, so obviously until we know what's wrong there is reason for concern.

MacArthur scored the game-winning goal in overtime of Game 6 versus the Bruins on Sunday. The Senators won the game 3-2 and the series 4-2.

EDGE Analysis

One of the unlikeliest of heroes, MacArthur scored his first goal in two years last week. His second of the series advanced Ottawa into the second round. MacArthur, who missed most of this season with a concussion, is clearly finding his game again. If there's any fantasy value to be had, it might be on the power play. Both of MacArthur's goals in the series came on the man advantage.
