Burns is still searching for his first goal this season.

EDGE Analysis

Last season, the bearded blueliner led all players at this position with 29 goals en route to securing the Norris Trophy, but he's come up empty on 60 shot attempts through 15 games this year. Interestingly enough, he's actually shooting slightly more often than in 2016-17, when he fired a whopping 320 shots between the pipes. We knew that franchise points leader Patrick Marleau leaving for Toronto would have a negative affect on Burns, though his tailspin is perhaps more dramatic than anyone could have imagined.

Burns picked up his first multi-point game in the Sharks' 5-3 loss to the Islanders on Saturday.

EDGE Analysis

He has been uncharacteristically quiet this season -- these are just his third and fourth points of the season (seven games). And Burns has no goals and a minus-8 rating. Gulp. The Sharks will get better, but this could be a long season for Burns and the boys.

Burns has a minus-5 rating through the first two games of the season.

EDGE Analysis

Expect this figure to normalize in due time. Burns skated to a plus-19 last season and ended up claiming the Norris Trophy as the league's best defenseman. Team Teal is adjusting to life without its all-time points leader in Patrick Marleau, who had spent close to two decades in the Bay Area before joining the Maple Leafs in the offseason.

Burns tallied an assist in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Flyers.

EDGE Analysis

The reigning Norris Trophy winner picked up right where he left off last season, notching a point and five shots on goal in Wednesday's defeat. He'll look to pot his first goal of the campaign Saturday against the Kings.

Burns led all defensemen with 76 points and 320 shots on goal to claim the Norris Trophy as the league's top defenseman.

EDGE Analysis

This is the first Norris Trophy win for Burns, who fell one goal shy of scoring 30 and finished with at least 75 points for the second straight season. Although his defensive zone play isn't his strongest suit, Burns was vital to the Sharks' transition offense, which would've ranked far lower than 19th if not for him. Often deployed as a rover and masquerading as a fourth forward on the ice, Burns' 320 shots is the third-highest total by a defenseman in the cap era, and also managed to register the highest Corsi percentage among the three nominees. Given his propensity to shoot the puck and the significant role he plays on offense, Burns is a top-three fantasy option for the foreseeable future.

Burns dished out three power-play assists and added a game-high five shots on goal in Tuesday's 7-0 Game 4 win over Edmonton.

EDGE Analysis

The Oilers had done a terrific job of containing the offensive-minded blueliner en route to a 2-1 series lead, but their game plan failed to account for eight trips to the penalty box. Burns still hasn't lit the lamp despite putting 18 pucks on net through four games, but his 9.1 percent shooting percentage during a 29-goal regular season suggests he's due.

Burns scored his 29th goal in Thursday's 4-2 loss to Edmonton.

EDGE Analysis

Burns has points in consecutive contests after managing just one goal and two assists in his previous 13 games. The bearded blueliner leads the league with 315 shots and will be motivated to light the lamp in Saturday's finale against Calgary to reach 30 goals for the first time. Even if he's held off the scoresheet in that one, consecutive 75-point seasons are still an amazing feat for any defenseman.

Burns has been cold recently, managing just one goal and two assists over his last 13 games.

EDGE Analysis

The stud blueliner has continued to throw a boatload of rubber on net during that span (50 SOG), but has failed to impress with a lack of goals and minus-8 rating. What's worse, Burns has only found twine once in the last 20 games, which has him stuck on 28 tallies despite his early goal-scoring tear. Still, the 2003 first-rounder has had a wildly successful campaign with 73 points in 79 games, and needs just two more to tie hie career high from a season ago.

Burns racked up a trio of assists in Thursday's 4-2 win over the visiting Capitals.

EDGE Analysis

After an uncharacteristic two-game absence from the scoresheet, Burns beasted out for three apples against Braden Holtby in this one. Not much more needs to be said about the superstar defenseman at this point: his 70 points lead all rearguards and put him in a five-way tie for second most in the NHL, he leads the league in shots on goal (260), and he has a similarly eye-popping plus-24 rating. #FantasyGold

Burns notched an assist in Vancouver, and now has five goals and three assists over the past five games.

EDGE Analysis

The bearded blueliner is still third in the league in scoring, sitting up there with names like Connor McDavid and Patrick Kane. Burns' stats all year have been insane, but since the calendar flipped to 2017, he has notched 30 points over 24 games. He's playing all 200 feet also, recording 104 blocked shots, 54 hits, and a plus-21 rating so far this season -- making him valuable in virtually any fantasy format.
