Free agent LB Will Witherspoon claims he's discussed a contract with the Falcons and Rams. Witherspoon, who will be 34 this season, has played for Rams coach Jeff Fisher for most of his career. Atlanta has question marks at linebacker after losing Sean Weatherspoon (Achilles') for the season. Witherspoon appeared in seven games with St. Louis last season. PFF have him solid marks against the run.

Rams coach Jeff Fisher confirmed Will Witherspoon will start at weak-side linebacker until Jo-Lonn Dunbar returns from suspension. Dunbar will miss the first four games. Fisher left open the door for Witherspoon to remain the starter upon Dunbar's return. Witherspoon got pushed around in run defense with the 2012 Titans, so we'd expect Dunbar to reclaim the job. The Rams won't be a fearsome matchup for running backs early in the year.

Rams agreed to terms with LB Will Witherspoon. The 11-year veteran spent 2006-09 in St. Louis. He was traded to the Eagles midway through the 2009 season. Witherspoon started all 16 games for Jeff Fisher's Titans in 2010. Coming off a bend-but-don't-break type of season in Tennessee, Witherspoon will serve as veteran insurance behind Alec Ogletree, James Laurinaitis and Jo-Lonn Dunbar. There's no guarantee he'll make the roster, but he should be given every opportunity to do so.

Free agent LB Will Witherspoon is expected to sign with the Rams before training camp starts next week. The Rams have been on the hunt for veteran depth behind their starting linebacking corps of Alec Ogletree, James Laurinaitis and Jo-Lonn Dunbar. Witherspoon is on the decline at age 32, but started 16 games for Jeff Fisher in 2010 and spent three-plus seasons with the Rams from 2006-2009.

Free agent LB Will Witherspoon is visiting the Rams on Thursday. Blast from the past. Witherspoon starred with the Rams from 2006-09, but the tank is running on "E" at 33 years of age. The 12-year veteran started all 16 games under coach Jeff Fisher in 2010 with the Titans. He recorded 47 tackles as a backup in 2012. His visit to St. Louis is his first known trip of free agency.

Free agent LB Will Witherspoon plans to keep playing. Witherspoon, 32, is an 11-year veteran, and he said his next goal is to get to 15 years in the league. He hasn't heard anything from the Titans, but he says he'd like to re-sign. Tennessee is likely to move on, though, and Witherspoon might have a tough go of it on the market.

Titans LB Will Witherspoon sustained a hamstring injury during Sunday's Week 7 win over the Bills. The Titans are really thin at linebacker. Colin McCarthy's ankle woes continue to linger, Patrick Bailey has a broken rib and Zac Diles broke his right leg on Sunday. Look for them to add a linebacker shortly.

Titans LB Will Witherspoon didn't play a single defensive snap in Week 5 against the Vikings. Middle linebacker Colin McCarthy has returned from his high ankle sprain, and second-round rookie Zach Brown has replaced Witherspoon at weak-side linebacker. Witherspoon can be safely dropped in IDP leagues. McCarthy has resumed his every-down role, playing 60-of-69 snaps in the loss to Minnesota.

Will Witherspoon opened camp as the Titans starting weak-side linebacker. Colin McCarthy is locked in as the three-down middle linebacker and Akeem Ayers is on the strong side. Witherspoon will have to hold off second-round rookie Zach Brown to keep his job. He had 56 tackles and two sacks in that role last year.

The Nashville Tennessean believes OLB Will Witherspoon would keep his starting job if the Titans signed restricted free agent LB Jonathan Casillas. Witherspoon is due a pricey $3.5 million and has been replacement level at best as a starter the past two seasons, but Casillas doesn't project as more than a reserve and special teamer. Witherspoon could end up facing competition in the form of a draft pick.
