Curry is absent from OTAs Tuesday due to an illness, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

EDGE Analysis

After opening up OTAs last week with first-team reps at right defensive end, Curry is not with the team to start this week's workouts. The illness, however, is likely not severe, and the defensive should return to work with the team in the coming days. The six-year NFL veteran is coming off a 2016 campaign where he battled a knee injury but still managed to post a career-high 26 tackles.

Vinny Curry got first-team reps at right defensive end this week in practice, Jeff McLane of philly.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

The six-year veteran is also lining up on the inside on passing downs. Given that he has experienced greater success against interior linemen in his career so far, and also recently revealed that he battled a knee injury last season according to Andrew Kulp of CSN Philly, it seems fair to expect a rebound from the 28-year-old in 2017. While he mostly disappointed with only 2.5 sacks last year after signing a $47 million dollar deal the previous offseason, he did set a career high with 26 tackles. He will have to produce better numbers in order to fend off no. 14 overall pick Derek Barnett and free-agent addition Chris Long, however.

Curry (knee) is active for Sunday's matchup against the Browns.

EDGE Analysis

Curry was a limited participant in practice Wednesday and Thursday, but upgraded to full participation in Friday's session. Despite the "questionable" designation, Curry will suit up and serve as a reserve defensive end.

Curry (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Browns, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

EDGE Analysis

Curry sustained a knee injury in a preseason game against the Colts on Aug. 27 and has yet to fully recover. Curry is currently listed as a second-string defensive end in the Eagles 4-3 defense, so expect starter Brandon Graham as well as third-stringer Bryan Braman to see increased loads if Curry is forced to miss Week 1's contest.

Curry didn't return to Saturday's preseason game in Indianapolis due to a knee injury.

EDGE Analysis

Penciled in as the starting right defensive end on the Eagles' unofficial depth chart, Curry's pass-rushing ability is needed in Philadelphia. A lengthy absence would place a damper on a unit that ranked 17th in the sack department during the 2015 season.

Beat writer Sheil Kapadia sensed that the coaching staff doesn't see Vinny Curry as a great fit.

Remember that the Eagles reportedly fielded calls on Curry at last year's trading deadline. It's very possible that he'll be available again ahead of the draft, and some 4-3 teams should come calling. Curry is under contract cheaply through 2015, is just 25 years old and has produced when given opportunities. He posted four sacks and 22 quarterback hurries on just 337 snaps in 2013.

The Eagles are reportedly fielding trade calls on DE Vinny Curry.

Teams are reaching out to the Eagles because they've seen how DC Billy Davis has underutilized the 2012 second-round pick. In just 102 snaps this year, Curry has two sacks and nine quarterback hurries. The Eagles would be wise to get him on the field more, not trade him away.

Eagles DE Vinny Curry is active for Week 3 against the Chiefs.

The oft-discussed former second-round pick had been a healthy scratch for the Eagles' first two games. Inactive for the Eagles are QB Matt Barkley, TE Emil Igwenagu, OT Dennis Kelly, OG Matt Tobin, CB Roc Carmichael, CB Jordan Poyer and DL Damion Square.

Eagles declared DE Vinny Curry, QB Matt Barkley, TE Emil Igwenagu, OT Dennis Kelly, OG Matt Tobin and CB Shaun Prater inactive for Week 1 against the Redskins.

Curry's deactivation comes after he spent much of camp with the second- and third-team defenses. Barkley could be inactive all 16 games this season depending on the health of Michael Vick.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports the Eagles will use Vinny Curry strictly at defensive end.

With the Eagles moving to a 3-4 defense, Curry added weight this offseason and is not expected to be asked to play outside linebacker. "Vinny was drafted here as a defensive lineman," position coach Jeff Azzinaro said. "That's what he's doing. He's playing defensive end."
