Barkley and the Eagles have reached agreement on a three-year, $37.75 million contract that could be worth up to $46.75 million and includes $26 million fully guaranteed at signing, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
While the dollar amounts in initial contract reports are suspect, Schefter was specific about all the key details on this one. The Eagles have upgraded their offense by swapping out D'Andre Swift (Bears) for Barkley, who figures to have the best offensive line of his career after spending six years with the division-rival Giants. QB Jalen Hurts' proficiency as both a scrambler and short-yardage runner takes away some of the receiving and TD production that might otherwise go to a running back, but the Eagles will surely make Barkley a priority after signing him to a large contract, and at the very least it should be a good situation for piling up rushing yards.

The Eagles and Texans are interested in signing Barkley, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
While numerous other teams presumably have some level of interest, it sounds like Houston and Philadelphia are among the more serious candidates at the start of the free-agent negotiating period Monday afternoon. Barkley is widely viewed as the best RB among a strong group of free agents at the position, though it seems D'Andre Swift (Bears) and Tony Pollard (Titans) are ahead of him when it comes to reaching verbal agreements with suitors. Barkley figures to come out ahead of them financially, of course.

The Giants don't intend to use the franchise tag on Barkley ahead of Tuesday's deadline, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and ESPN's Adam Schefter report.
EDGE Analysis
Tagging the running back for a second straight year would have put the Giants on the hook for a $12.1 million salary in 2024. Barkley, who turned 27 last month, will become a free agent in the coming days as a result. In his sixth campaign with the team that selected him second overall in the 2018 NFL Draft, Barkley carried the ball 247 times for 962 yards and six TDs to go along with 41 catches on 60 targets for 280 yards and four receiving scores over 14 contests in 2023.

The Giants will discuss a new contract with Barkley but aren't expected to use their franchise tag on him, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Schefter reports that there are no teams planning to use tags on RBs, including the three -- Giants (Barkley), Raiders (Josh Jacobs) and Cowboys (Tony Pollard) -- that did so last offseason. In addition to those three, the 2024 free-agent class includes six other RBs that got at least 200 touches this past season (Derrick Henry, Austin Ekeler, D'Andre Swift, Devin Singletary, Ezekiel Elliott and Gus Edwards). Some of those players may re-sign with their current teams before the start of the new league year, but most figure to hit the open market. It would cost the Giants about $12.1 million to tag Barkley for a second straight year.

Barkley carried the ball 18 times for 46 yards and two touchdowns and caught both his targets for 51 yards in Sunday's 27-10 win over the Eagles.
EDGE Analysis
The running back led the charge in the upset win, scoring two-yard and three-yard TDs in the second quarter as the Giants raced out to a 24-0 lead before halftime. Barkley failed to reach 1,000 rushing yards on the season, finishing with 962 yards on 247 carries for a lackluster 3.9 YPC, but he ended the campaign on a high note with five rushing TDs in the last five games. The 26-year-old will be one of the more attractive free-agent options at his position this offseason.

Barkley rushed 12 times for 39 yards and caught three of six targets for 19 yards in Sunday's 26-25 loss to the Rams.
EDGE Analysis
Barkley was held in check on the ground, posting his second-lowest rushing yardage total of the season. He could have had a bigger game as a pass catcher; Tyrod Taylor threw behind a wide open Barkley on what would have been a go-ahead two-point conversion in the fourth quarter, and Barkley had a drop with plenty of green grass in front of him on New York's final drive, which ended in a missed field goal. Barkley needs 84 rushing yards in Week 18 against the Eagles to reach 1,000 for the fourth time in six NFL seasons.

Barkley (elbow) was a full practice participant Thursday, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Barkley was estimated as a limited participant Wednesday while the Giants opened Week 17 prep with a walkthrough, but he took every rep in a more traditional practice a day later to clear up any concern about his availability for Sunday's game against the Rams. The star running back has been held under four yards per carry in three of his past four outings, but the quarterback change from Tommy DeVito to Tyrod Taylor in Week 17 could help Barkley from an efficiency standpoint.

Barkley was a limited participant at Wednesday's walkthrough due to an elbow injury, Charlotte Carroll of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Barkley last had practice restrictions placed upon him during Week 11 prep. In the four games since, he's turned 73 touches into 274 yards from scrimmage and three rushing touchdowns. Considering Barkley was able to log some on-field work to kick off this week, he likely isn't in any danger of missing Sunday's contest against the Rams, but his status still will be monitored to ensure that's the case.

Barkley rushed the ball 23 times for 80 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 33-25 loss to the Eagles. He added three receptions on six targets for four yards, and he also rushed in a two-point conversion.
EDGE Analysis
The Giants' offense was particularly reliant on Barkley, and he reached 20 rushing attempts for the second time in his last three games. He wasn't particularly efficient in the tough matchup, as his longest gain went for only 12 yards, and he was held to two yards or fewer on 13 of his attempts. Nevertheless, he ended up with a solid fantasy performance thanks to his seven-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter. Even in the poor New York offense, Barkley has topped 80 rushing yards in half of his 12 games this season and needs only 123 more yards on the ground to reach 1,000 for the campaign.

Barkley rushed nine times for 14 yards and caught both of his targets for 23 yards in Sunday's 24-6 loss to the Saints.
EDGE Analysis
Barkley ran into a brick walls on nearly every one of his season-low nine carries as New Orleans' dominant defense put on one of its best performances to date. Combine the tough matchup with the Giants' lack of offensive threats outside of its star running back, and you have the recipe for what transpired Sunday. Fantasy managers who benefited from Barkley's best fantasy game of the season against the Packers in Week 14 likely had to suffer the superstar's worst output in their following playoff matchup. Things don't get any easier for the Giants and Barkley in Week 16 when they draw another tough defense in Philadelphia for a holiday edition of Monday Night Football.
