Barring an injury, ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss does not expect the Patriots to sign RB Sammy Morris. Morris says he's spoken with the team about a potential return, but it's likely only due diligence on the Patriots' end. With Stevan Ridley, Shane Vereen, Danny Woodhead, and Joseph Addai in the mix, Morris would need multiple injuries to even land a part-time role.

Free agent RB Sammy Morris said he's spoken to the Patriots about a potential return. Morris was with the Pats from 2007-2010, setting a career-high for carries in 2008 with 156. But now he's 35 and spent most of last season on the street. Morris wouldn't be any kind of threat to Stevan Ridley or Shane Vereen.

Free agent RB Sammy Morris acknowledged that he has considered retirement this offseason. Morris, 35, has received little or no free agent interest at the tail end of a 12-year career. "I'm just kind of waiting to see," Morris said. "I haven't personally hung 'em up, but we'll see what materializes." Morris appeared in three games with Dallas last season, rushing 28 times for 98 yards.

Sammy Morris rushed three times for 16 yards in Dallas' Week 17 loss to the Giants, adding one catch for three yards. Morris finishes his late-season cameo with 121 total yards on 33 touches in three games. Although he came through in a pinch for the Cowboys, Morris only further confirmed he's out of gas. It's quite likely the 34-year-old former Bill, Dolphin and Patriot has played his final NFL down.

Sammy Morris rushed for just 29 yards on 13 carries and added four receptions for 10 yards in Week 16 versus the Eagles. Philly's defense is much improved over the past three weeks, but Morris showed very little burst after taking over for Felix Jones on the second offensive series. Jones was pulled only as a precaution in a meaningless game, so expect Morris to be used as a backup against the Giants in the season finale.

Owner Jerry Jones acknowledged Friday that Sammy Morris will likely play extensively in Week 16 against the Eagles. Unless you can wait until 4:15PM ET to set your lineup, the Cowboys' backfield is fast becoming a fantasy situation to avoid. "Morris has been a pleasant surprise," Jones said Friday. "He's had a good week. Sammy Morris, I think tomorrow he is going to play and he's going to play more than we thought he was going to play thinking back last week. I'm confident he will do a good job."

Sammy Morris handled the majority of first-team reps in Tuesday's practice. Felix Jones sat the practice out due to hamstring tightness. We're tentatively expecting Jones to play, but owners can protect themselves by adding Morris. The 34 year old looked surprisingly spry while running for 53 yards on 12 carries against the Bucs last week.

Cowboys will sign RB Sammy Morris. The move isn't official yet, but Jerry Jones confirmed it will happen. At age 34, Morris will be a strict backup to every-down back Felix Jones. The ex-Patriot has averaged 4.01 yards per carry on 93 rushes since the end of the 2008 season.

ESPN Dallas reports the Cowboys will work out free agent RB Sammy Morris on Tuesday, and plan to sign the 12-year veteran. Morris will become a Cowboy as long as no issues arise during his workout. One of the Patriots' final cuts, Morris appeared in all 16 games for the Pats a year ago. He carried the ball only 20 times, however, and has gone for just 375 yards on 93 totes since the end of the 2008 season. He won't be a candidate for a big workload behind Felix Jones, and should make most of his contributions in the passing game. He's a poor PPR league flier.

The Chiefs worked out free agent running backs Sammy Morris, Jalen Parmele, Dimitri Nance and Chris Jennings this week, according to Scout.com. No one was signed. Despite Jamaal Charles' injury, the Chiefs have four backs currently on their roster capable of carrying the ball. If one of them flops or gets hurt, they'll then likely turn to the street.
