The Browns will release Griffin on Friday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

EDGE Analysis

The Browns are thus in the midst of their latest QB overhaul, after having added Brock Osweiler (for now) and reportedly poised to make a run at trading for New England's Jimmy Garoppolo. Griffin has had trouble staying healthy over the course of his NFL career, but he's just 27 years old and a former No. 2 overall pick, so he'll no doubt be afforded an opportunity to kickstart his career elsewhere. In such a scenario though, we doubt that he'll be simply handed a starting job.

The Browns are expected to part ways with Griffin, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.

EDGE Analysis

Grifin was unable to revive his career in Cleveland, completing just 59.2 percent of his passes for 6.0 yards per attempt in five appearances. The team's decision to take on Brock Osweiler (and his contract) essentially cemented Griffin's exit. Now five years removed from his brilliant rookie season, the 27-year-old would be lucky to find a shot to compete for a starting job. He may have to settle for an outright backup gig .

Griffin finished up the 2016 season by completing 29 of 40 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns during Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Steelers. He also rushed five times for 32 yards and was intercepted once.

EDGE Analysis

During his last chance to prove he can be Cleveland's franchise quarterback, Griffin displayed the ability to make plays with his arm rather than his feet. He completed 72 percent of his passes and connected with eight different receivers, including two touchdown tosses to tight ends Gary Barnidge and Seth DeValve. Although he's signed through 2017, his future with the Browns is a bit unclear at this time. He missed the majority of the season with a shoulder injury and never really had the opportunity to show that he's more than just a placeholder. We should know more as the offseason unfolds.

Griffin has been confirmed as the Browns' starting quarterback for Sunday's season finale against the Steelers.

EDGE Analysis

Griffin was cleared from his concussion Thursday morning, paving the way for him to start a fourth straight game to close this season. With the Steelers having already secured a playoff spot, Griffin could benefit from Pittsburgh resting a number of key defensive players, potentially boosting his chances of throwing his first touchdown of the current campaign.

After returning to practice Thursday, Griffin (concussion) is in line to start Sunday against the Steelers, barring any setbacks, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

EDGE Analysis

Per the Akron Beacon Journal, Griffin was medically cleared Thursday morning by an independent neurologist, which sets the stage for Griffin to make his fourth consecutive start. He'll remain a speculative fantasy play in Week 17, but working in his favor is that the Steelers, whose playoff seeding in locked in, are expected to rest or limit a number of their key starters Sunday.

Griffin (concussion) has been cleared to practice and is in line to start Sunday against the Steelers, The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

EDGE Analysis

Griffin was cleared by an independent neurologist and it looks like he'll practice Thursday, setting the stage for an opportunity to earn his second straight win. The Browns don't seem to be completely finished with their future evaluation of Griffin, as coach Hue Jackson would like to see a larger sample size from him before making difficult offseason roster decisions. Matchup-wise, the Steelers are allowing the sixth-least fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, but they'll likely be resting some of their starters, as they already have a playoff spot locked up.

Griffin (concussion) did not practice Wednesday, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

EDGE Analysis

Griffin's status for Sunday's game against the Steelers thus remains cloudy and in the event that he is not medically cleared by the end of the week, Cody Kessler would be in line to start at QB in the Browns' season finale.

Griffin remains in the league's concussion protocol as of Monday, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

EDGE Analysis

Griffin doesn't appear likely to play at all in Week 17 with the Browns searching for just their second win of the season, leaving Cody Kessler as the potential starter at quarterback. If Griffin's 2016 campaign is indeed over, he'll have finished without a single passing touchdown through four games played.

Griffin (concussion) seems likely to miss the Browns' season finale next Sunday against the Steelers, the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

EDGE Analysis

With the 1-14 Browns having nothing but pride to play for at this stage, the team has little reason to rush Griffin back. If he is inactive next week, Cody Kessler would start at QB start in his place in Week 17. Beyond that, Griffin's status with the Browns in unclear. Per the report, the signal-caller has a $750,000 roster bonus due on March 11, but it remains to be seen if he's viewed as part of the organization's future.

Griffin has been diagnosed with a concussion and will not return to Saturday's game against the Chargers.

EDGE Analysis

It appears that Cody Kessler will be tasked with finishing out Saturday's game with Griffin officially done for the day. Since taking back over as the Browns' starter in Week 14, Griffin did not throw a touchdown in any of his 81 pass attempts. If he does not pass through the league's concussion protocol this week, Kessler will likely start the season finale against the Steelers.
