Garcon caught four of eight targets for 36 yards in Sunday's overtime loss to the Cardinals.

EDGE Analysis

Garcon was shadowed by shutdown corner, Patrick Peterson, for the majority of the contest, so Brian Hoyer looked to Aldrick Robinson (12 targets) and Trent Taylor (10 targets) more often than not. The 31-year-old has alternated solid and poor PPR outputs through four games, and he should continue that trend with a soft matchup against the Colts' secondary next week.

Garcon brought in seven of 10 targets for 142 yards in Thursday's 41-39 loss to the Rams.

EDGE Analysis

The performance was one that both Garcon and head coach Kyle Shanahan -- who served as offensive coordinator during part of the former's tenure in Washington -- likely envisioned when bringing him west in the offseason. Garcon looked and played the part of a true No. 1 receiver throughout the night, making a number of impressive plays. A nifty 19-yard toe-dragging grab on the sideline early in the third needed a replay challenge before being rightfully deemed a catch, while his outstretched 59-yard reception deep down the left sideline with just over six minutes remaining put the Niners into Rams territory on a drive that would culminate in a Trent Taylor touchdown. Garcon made a number of other noteworthy receptions throughout the contest as well and may have made a significant leap forward in his rapport with Hoyer. He'll look to continue producing in a tough Week 4 road tilt versus the Cardinals.

Garcon caught three passes (five targets) for 26 yards in Sunday's 12-9 loss to Seattle.

EDGE Analysis

Garcon -- along with the entire San Francisco air attack -- was quiet in a tough matchup against the Seahawks' vaunted secondary. The 49ers have yet to score an offensive touchdown through the first two weeks of the season, a trend that will limit the veteran wideout's fantasy potential if it continues. That said, Garcon leads the team with 15 targets and nine receptions, making him a PPR option in the right matchups.

Garcon caught six of 10 targets for 81 yards in Sunday's 23-3 loss to the Panthers.

EDGE Analysis

While the entire offense struggled Sunday, Garcon at least showed to have developed solid chemistry with QB Brian Hoyer. In fact, his 10 targets were four more than any of his teammates received. While Garcon could be a target monster as the clear top dog in this receiving corps, Hoyer's limitations as a passer will likely be a thorn in Garcon's side all season long. Next week's matchup with the Seahawks could get ugly.

Garcon brought in six of seven targets for 64 yards in Sunday's 32-31 preseason loss to the Vikings.

EDGE Analysis

The Niners' projected No. 1 receiver certainly looked the part Sunday, pacing the club in catches while checking in second in receiving yards. Garcon had notched just one catch for 11 yards over his first two exhibitions, so his effort against the Vikings' first-team defense was certainly encouraging. The veteran wideout is intimately familiar with head coach Kyle Shanahan's offensive system from their time together in Washington, so he's projected for a high-volume role in the coming campaign. Garcon is expected to sit in next Thursday's exhibition finale and next take the field in Week 1 versus the 49ers.

Garcon failed to secure his only target in Friday's 27-17 preseason win over the Chiefs.

EDGE Analysis

Garcon is fully expected to open the season as one of the starting wideouts, so it wasn't surprising to see him play limited snaps in the opener. The veteran wideout is intimately familiar with head coach Kyle Shanahan's offensive scheme from their two seasons together in Washington, giving him an inherent advantage going into his first campaign out west. Garcon is likely to see more action in the 49ers' second preseason tilt against the Broncos.

The 49ers officially inked Garcon to a five-year contract Thursday.

EDGE Analysis

Aside from six games missed in his first season with the Redskins in 2012, Garcon has been a modicum of health in his other eight campaigns, missing five contests otherwise and none over the past four years. During that four-year span, he led the NFL in receptions once with 113 in 2013, received between 105 and 181 targets each season, and surpassed 1,000 yards on two occasions. On a sour note, he's topped out at six touchdowns in a given campaign, so his value is largely contingent upon a steady volume and avoiding the injury report. In San Francisco, he'll be reunited with head coach Kyle Shanahan, which should help Garcon sustain relevance in his third stop as a professional.

Garcon appears poised to sign with the 49ers, ESPN.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

In such a scenario, Garcon would be reunited with head coach Kyle Shanahan, who served as offensive coordinator during the wideout's first two seasons (2012 and 2013) in Washington. Garcon, who turns 31 in August, is coming off a 2016 season in which he recorded 79 catches (on 116 targets) for 1,041 yards and three TDs. His expected addition to the 49ers' receiving corps would provide a needed boost to a unit that bid adieu to Torrey Smith on Monday.

Garcon recorded four receptions for 96 yards in Week 17's loss to the Giants.

EDGE Analysis

The veteran wideout led the team in receiving Sunday, putting him over 1000 receiving yards on the season for the first time since 2013. His seventh season ends with 79 receptions for 1041 yards and three touchdowns. He will now enter the offseason as an unrestricted free agent. The wideout has proven to be a valuable cog in Washington's offense, but may not be as crucial to the team next season given the emergence of Jamison Crowder this year.

Garcon recorded four receptions for 94 yards in Saturday's win over the Bears.

EDGE Analysis

Garcon played a major role in a second-quarter drive, hauling in a 25-yard reception followed by a 46-yard one to help move the Redskins into scoring position. His 94 receiving yards were his second highest total this season. He could see an even bigger role next week if DeSean Jackson (jaw) is forced to miss extended time.
