With Wilhoite reclaiming his role as the 49ers' second starting middle linebacker, Moody will be pushed back to a backup role.

Moody did a great job filling in for Wilhoite, and probably would have been the starter if Wilhoite didn't return so soon. Even though he won't start, Moody looks to have played his way onto the 53-man roster.

Moody finished the 2014 season with 21 tackles (16 solo) and four stuffs. Moody spent the majority of the year on special teams, but was asked to start in the final few games of the season once injuries struck the 49ers' linebacking corps. Under contract through 2017, Moody will fight for a roster spot during training camp and serve a similar role if he makes the squad.

Moody was filling in for the injured Chris Borland (ankle) and will receive another start in the 49ers' season finale against Arizona next week.
